Lost interest
No quest markers, limited points of interests has just made me lose interest. Learn something from Witcher 3. Not everyone has the time to sit down and do a bunch of Scooby Doo mystery discoveries to find simple quests in the game. I also don't want to have to google everything either. I am someone who likes to complete everything on one playthrough and games with garbage like this make that super annoying to do.

just quit rpgs and mmos. Also, W3 was a clunky mess and still is...

Not everyone wants to be babysitted like you do.

and not everyone requires markers every 50m because they can't "follow footsteps" on their own. So it's balanced I guess. DD2 for me. Starfield for you. Choose with wallet.

i understand your frustration, they should absolutely be optional like how ubisoft does it. Exploration mode or whatever.

If a game does not meet your expectations, find one that does, don't enforce yourself on one that caters to another type of player.

Play some assassins creed quest mark fest from ubisoft.

Nah, TW3 UI is a mess and chasing down every little icon on the map is obnoxious. DD UI and quest design is far superior in that regard.

I'm happy cause it's very rare nowadays to see a game developer with a spine to stick to their vision and not bend the knee to the "quality of life" crowd. We're finally getting an RPG with inventory management mechanics tied to a weight system instead of a bottomless inventory without consequence. We're finally getting an RPG without inconsequential omnipresent fast travel in the style of Elden Ring or patronizing quest markers, so players have proper incentive to plan their travels, either by picking up whatever items they feel are gonna be necessary or piling up multiple quests with similar objectives to save on travel time.

Even the Port Crystals, which rewarded players for exploring and having the intelligence to recognize important/relevant locations to place them, are back as well. Way better than shoving a billion travel points on a map so that the mid to endgame exploration gets reduced to a series of loading screens. A choice can only exist if all options are equally valid. Ferrystones are nice and can take you instantly anywhere, but Port Crystals are rare and ferrystones expensive. Oxcarts are free, but they don't take you everywhere and you can get ambushed. You gotta consider the pros and cons. Omnipresent fast travel has no cons, so pretending you have actual choices and going "it's just an option! why are you against player choice?!" like many people do is very dishonest.

Glad to see they're not bending the knee to all the annoying "pls add fast travel", "pls add co-op" and "pls add mounts" comments I've seen since DD2 was announced. With the addition of Oxcarts, which seem to be a nice diegetic method of navigation, hopefully they remove the Eternal Ferrystone as well. Buying ferrystones was part of the game's economy and item management systems and adding an infinite use stone in Dark Arisen (on top of the ridiculous amount of Gold you get in Hard Mode) broke those systems. I miss playing an RPG with RPG mechanics to engage with instead of a soulless safe product designed for convenience and mass appeal.

Nothing wrong with having the option to have a more guided experience vs hardcore. It doesn't make you a better human to sit and play puzzle with every element in the game. A lot of people just see it as aggravation. BDO is also played mostly afk for me and I have been playing it for awhile so drawing a comparison to those hours as to why I don't want to google every quest in the game is absolutely stupid.

Not babysitting for a game to tell you where a point of interest is. Yeah you're so hardcore you ran around and stumbled upon something when the game was too junk to just provide it for you. That's just a way for lazy devs to excuse multiple playthroughs by hiding everything and making you feel immersed. Just annoying. Witcher 3 also has more awards that this game will ever have.

Yeah it sounds like padding to me just so they can extend the life of the game artificially. I don't have time for it and I'm not paying 70 dollars either for a base game. Never have and never will.

Elden Ring did really well without Quest markers. I think it'll be fine.

Elden Ring didn't really have a quest log either, but Dragon's Dogma 1 did and 2 most likely will too.

They will shoe horn you in the right direction for main quest lines optional quests will be for exploration.

Could have been a lot better I would have re played it a lot if it had quest markers but I beat it once and never wanted to play it again.

Hell yeah. I like to think Elden Ring had something to do with this.

Challenge us. Make us think a little. Let our brains get engaged. Some of us like to use them.

Games like Hogwarts Legacy - you get into a huge, beautiful and crazy dungeon with a large puzzle. Before you even get started, the protagonist is telling you how to solve it. Like, what's the point?

Yeah there should be games for everyone. Those who want a mindless adventure, and those who want the joy of investigating and solving problems.

Outward is another example. You get a map with some landmarks and a compass. Navigation requires you to actually look at your surroundings and figure out where the hell you are. It's not even hard, but it does get you looking closer at your journey with just that one little part. Love it

''Lost interest''

Worry not mate. The low attention span peeps, like you, can always find solace in Ubisoft or Blizzard. Try Diablo Immortal or Assassin's Creed 18.

Plenty of options in the market for players like you, but not as many for players like me, who value immersion above spoon-feeding.
