I wonder about that. Considering Capcom's recent stance on mods there is a possibility that it might disable online play.
Well aware of that, but that was the first DD. Second one might just outright disable any online interactivity for using mods, even if it does not affect pawn's stats.
Then again, that's up in the stars and to be observed once the game fully releases.
