GPU for this game?
Being on a next gen engine, much expected bump in specs. What you think will the gpu that'll hold out for the next couple of years?

For couple of years, whatever have 16gb+ vram. I can guarantee that rtx 4090 will be good for a couple of years but the price doesn't justify it, I would just buy something decent right now for 300-400 dollars and sell it when it starts to underperform. The problem is still a lot of gpus are still 8gb vram in that range, so try to get something at least 12gb.

+16GB within $400? is that even possible?

There's the RX 6800, no idea how AMD is performance wise at the moment but their cards always seem to be more front loaded in VRAM. On the Nvidia side I don't know where you're getting a decent modern card for under $400 though, unless you're going used on Ebay.

RX 6800 non xt, intel arc highest GPU though that's inconsistent. Still it depends what you have now if it's worth upgrading. if you own any mid range rtx or rx 6000+ card, probably not, just hold on to it for a while and upgrade when new stuff comes out, the rtx 4000 series weren't much of an ugprade over previous rtx for example.

Also as long as you get 12+ you should be fine for a while if not pushing every setting to max, 16+ would definitely be safer, but by the time it becomes standard, much better GPUs will come out.

No one will be able to play this due to the cpu minimum at 30fps

hmm... 12GB does seem too small of a performance boost to feel safe. Maybe I'll hold on till Jan for possible 16GB 4070.

Even mine meets minimum requirement. I think CPUs and motherboard are relatively cheap when compared to the GPUs.

6-7 year old is huge as techs move on pretty fast. 6-7 old phone would not do you good in modern environment. It's like comparing orginal Iphone to Iphone X
This is literally their next gen game with set of new engine.

What's the context? What sort of settings do you seek? There's a vast difference in options between someone who is content with 1080 @ 60 (without ray tracing) and one who accepts nothing less than 4k @ 60 with performance raytracing.

Probably the cheapest current gpus would be a Rx6700xt 12gb or a 3060 8/12gb anything below those is too old.
Wild Nov 29, 2023 @ 9:13pm
rx 6700 xt and rx 6750 xt (300-320 dollars) are currently the best value for money by a huge margin, rtx 3060 ti really not worth it with only 8gb vram. rtx 4060 ti also really disappointing for the price, but if you go to the high end nvidia is doing good (rtx 4070ti, rtx 4070).

3060 do have 12gb versions.

Don't think even lower end nvidia gpu with 16GB is good from the looks of the bandwith. Went to see 4070's performance, but saw it being bottle necked by the Vram in games like Hogwarts legacy. 16GB does seem like the next gen safespot.

If I'm going to upgrade, would at least want to be able to play at 1080p max setting plus some extra room for apps to be running on the sides on the side monitor. 1440p is nice, but just not worth it in gpus in my area. Monitor wise, it's almost there though

I have a RTX 4070ti with an Intel 13900 CPU - I am able to run most everything I play at 4K with max settings and 60+FPS (so long as I turn off ray tracing and enable the latest DLSS frame generation).
