MK2 too hard?
Me and a group of my mates have been playing it (MKII) around the clock, but we continually seem to get bogged down by obviously OP AI. Nothing seems to help other than sheer luck of landing the final blow, which seems to be up to the the AI's discretion.
We have put the difficulty down to very-easy and have checked out Youtube for guidance but it is still too ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ difficult. Most tactics observed simply don't work in this version.

So we just need a "difficulty patch"!!!

Or just use exploits to beat the game , that patch will never happen
an "amateurial difficulty patch"!
Yes its difficult. Remember these games were written in an age when there was no online update service and the goal for the buyer was to get as much play time as possible out of a purchase. This meant making games extremely difficult and fun to play.

Welcome to how the phrase "Nintendo hard." Came to be. *mutters about these young folks who don't know what it means to score an ultra combo anymore"

As somebody who just recently got his hands on an original MK2 arcade cabinet, I can say that the game is extremely unforgiving compared to modern day games. I have to turn the machine's difficulty down to easy just for it to be somewhat enjoyable. I haven't given in yet and turned it down to very easy though :p

Remember the first rule of cabinet game: "more a game is harde, more coin people will put in"
MK I and II are unforgiving. To even beat the A.I, you really have to exploit and be as cheap as the A.I is. That's not my playstyle and I hate having to resort to that. The exploit I can remember doing is in MKII where you have to be three feet apart from Mileena and if your timing is right, you can jump kick right before she's about to do her air sais. Rinse and repeat. Boring, is more like it.

Fighters like Liu Kang and Johnny Cage on MK II though? ♥♥♥♥. Them. Nothing but just spam-happy, predicting and countering ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

I love the games, but I'll always despise the A.I. With their nano-second responses, constant throws, damage sequence chains, spamming and to add insult to injury - fatalities. It just kills my mood to be facing all of that and while the console ports are technically easier, the console ports are just as broken. Such example is the Sega Genesis version of MK II while the Genesis version of MK I is stupid easy compared to it's arcade counterpart.

hahaha, welcome to how games used to be. I've been playing this game since the BETAS WERE IN THE ARCADE (v 1) !!!! The original Mortal Kombats will make you a FIGHTING GAME GOD. I can count on my hands and toes how many times I've beat mk2 (it's freaking hard !). You play because you love the flow, not because you get some baby achievements like in new games. Mortal Kombat 1-2-3 are games for men. Keep playing and you'll notice that when you challenge your friends at one of these new baby fighting games you'll completely destroy them .
I'm pretty sure you weren't around for the betas... Seriously, People play games for fun, Not for "the flow." or "baby achievements." And battling a "Very Easy" AI that feels like a very hard AI, Is not fun.

I'm pretty sure you weren't around when they handed out necroposting.
I have the Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection on PS3. All the people commenting on this thread saying 'That's the way it was' or 'It was always too hard' clearly have never played this version of Mortal Kombat II. The arcade was hard, sure, but it didn't have a VERY EASY difficulty setting the play could choose. Having it set on VERY EASY and having the 3rd or 4th character juggle you without you getting any hits in and killing you under 10 seconds is not VERY EASY. Having every single one of your moves countered on VERY EASY is such utter non-sense. I am going to file a charge back on my credit card for this game.
i made a test with mk2 in mame , is more easy A.I than kollection.

There are a few methods you can use to manipulate the IA . Example : if you jump backwards before right before the cpu grabs you the cpu will jump at you and you can punish. Once you master this it gets stupidly easy to beat the game even on very hard

Apparently the ai in mk2 reads your imputs rather that your character's movements, so if, say, you throw a projectile, doesn't matter how far or close you are, the ai will block it. All the difficulty setting seems to do is make the chance of the ai responding higher or lower. Welcome to the arcade
