gamepad are simply not working

so i booted the game up today, to which i was very surprised it was actually working. this game is so notoriously incompatible.

so i'm glad the game is working but anyway to fix the gamepad not working. I mean my gamepad works but for starters the start button doesn't work in game ( lets say you want to look up moves) ... would be nice just to configure gamepad in custom as you should be able to in this game... gonna try using steam os overlay for custom gamepad templates but something tells it won't make a difference.

As far I known only X-input controllers works in the game.

yeah but the mapping doesn't. have you tried pressing start or select? I just want x and y to be low and high punch. and a and b to be low and high kick. is that too much to ask for? and for start select to work in game.

im spewing i can never get this game to work properly with my 6 button arcade sticks. Now it wont work even with the keyboard. Any ideas fellas?

What i did was joy2key and I mapped the keyboard's buttons to my arcade stick, hope it helps

yeah i ended up buying the gog versions.... wtv... i will give mortal kombat more moneyy... those are still broke but wtv... i didn't think of joy2key.... but like i shouldn't have to do that really. like they should be optimized...

Yeah, this should not be a problem for customer to take care of but I guess that's why they removed it from steam. Yet, definitely the mapping problem has no excuse whatsoever

Everything seems to work fine for me after updating GFWL and creating a local account. I use an xbox one controller and use windows 10.

This is the only version that perfectly matches the arcade from the little research I did, could be wrong. I like the authenticity to the arcade version flaws and all since the whole point for me is the nostalgia of playing that arcade as a kid.

I just fixed this. Navigate to steam settings, controller, general controller settings, turn off Xbox configuration support to get it to work properly for MKAK.
