using an xbox 360 controller? [solution found!]

doesn't appear to be any kind of controller support ( i guess its to be expected with a game this old) don't suppose there is any feasible way to get an xbox controller working with it, basically essential in my case as i'm trying to play it on a gpd win

Red Faction 1 wasn't even been meant to be an Xbox game. Only for PC, PS2 & PS4.

that is to old game for any controler back then ,exspecially x box
u can try to use google to try to fined some mods or patch ,buy i think there are none ,the game just to old ,back then a game for pc was just for M/K ,not counting games like liek FIFA or some sports

for lost souls who have the same problem as I, using steams big picture mode you can configure your Xbox controller to emulate keyboard and mouse inputs, effectively making this game playable with a controller.

The game was made for Play Station 2. It does have controller support but you have to use a play station 2 controller.

I wish they would develop a proper patch. The reason I purchased my PS/Xbox controller for Steam use on my desktop computer was so I could play games like this that first came out for controller games! This is a PS game originally. A controller game. So why didn't they originally support controllers? When my Steam version of Quake 2 came out, it didn't support controllers, but then they added it, and now I can play the game, and it's awesome. I don't want to have to add patches and so forth. I just want to be able to play the game I purchased with a controller, the way the game was originally intended! Come on. Get it done! This game is too good to be idling in my collection doing nothing for years.
