Cool beans. Awesome that one of my favorite games that have a special place in my heart still gets community support 18 years later.

Glad to hear you're a fan of the game! If you're interested in playing the game again or talking to other Red Faction fans, you should join the Red Faction community at the FactionFiles.com community Discord: https://discord.gg/fRrUzuV

I have sent a friend request. I just have a few questions regarding Red faction mods. I used to mod a a lot. I thought Red Faction was a dead game. It was like finding a old friend you thought was dead. Good thing is now I can dig through all the user made patches and mods. I'll be joining the discord server now that I see that. Have a good day all!

Before that, I could not enter the game at all, but turned off anti-aliasing and filtering — it started, but multiplayer not working. What to do? Writes: "You have not properly selected your network connection in the launcher. Please exit Red Faction
and run the launcher."
Help me please!

Hm, I thought that issue had been resolved, but apparently not. Launch the normal Red Faction launcher (RedFaction.exe in your Red Faction directory), go to "Setup", go to the "Network" tab, select T1/LAN for your connection speed, and set rfgt.factionfiles.com as your Master Server. Should work then!

If it doesn't, let me know! The best way to reach me is by joining the Red Faction community on the FactionFiles.com Discord: https://discord.gg/fRrUzuV

Once we get this working for you, I'll update the FAQ with the solution.

Thank you very much! I did everything as you said. Everything works, though few people, only 5 people :(

Can I somehow run this thing through Steam? It's working flawlessly, but I want to clock these sweet hours.

FYI - The zip file contains a crashhandler program that sets off Windows Defender:

Trojan:Win32/Zpevdo.A

Thanks for the note on that! Unfortunately, I'm not sure if much can be done about that - many AV vendors detect such files as malicious simply because they're not used by millions of people.

CrashHandler.exe (shipped with Dash Faction) allows the client to handle crashes and (after obtaining your permission) send some data to the Dash Faction developer so he is able to figure out what went wrong and fix it. Dash Faction will run fine if you delete CrashHandler.exe, so feel free to do so if it makes you more comfortable :)

PS. Crash Handler (and the rest of Dash Faction) is also open source and available on rafalh's Github repository. You can recompile and/or review the source yourself if you like.

Was checking this out with this mod https://www.moddb.com/games/red-faction/addons/red-faction-ai-upscale-textures/

And I noticed the hud is a bit messed up. The weapon select hud objects are misaligned and the radio message portraits are way too big. I figure it is because the upscale upscales hud elements too and that dash faction doesn't support it, but is there a way to fix that?

Time to repeat my question after three months, I guess.

Can I somehow run this thing through Steam? It's working flawlessly, but I want to clock these sweet hours.

To the best of my knowledge, there's no way to clock hours with Dash Faction through Steam, at least under the Red Faction game name. You may be able to add Dash Faction as a "non-Steam" game and clock hours that way, but it's not something I've tried.
