..so is there any way to activate my copy on Steam? I tried just entering the key but it said it was invalid :(

There should be free demo versions up shortly. If you download that and you already have previously installed stand-alone version and inserted key there (so it is already stored on your computer), the steam version will work as advanced.

Same I hope my key I got from EVGA will work with the demo.

No luck, my key works on the demo version. And it changes to the advanced version instead. But when you leave 3DMark and start it up again it says basic. I really hope theres a fix for this.

Not sure why it is resetting the previously owned key with the demo version; it didn't do that when this was all tested... will investigate.

Yeah just ran the demo and it's now in demo mode again... could it have something to do with an external file or something?

Yeah if I run the other version I just downloaded from the site, it runs fine, but the steam version is stuck in demo mode.

What if you remove the cdkey entry from the install.vdf (or whatever.vdf) file, and make it read-only? Does Steam overwrite it?

Games that were not bought directly on steam and are not steamworks cannot be activated on steam. So why the expectacy here? Just curious.

The key issue with 3DMark 11 Demo has now been fixed (update was just published).

So if you already have previously installed stand-alone 3DMark 11 on your PC with Advanced Edition key in it, if you start up Steam 3DMark 11 Demo, it starts up in Advanced Edition mode.

Whoa there, yea i thought everyone knew that. The only people that wouldn't know, imo, would be someone who has never visited the forums, never read the steam T&C's or is new to steam. Guess i was mistaken, no offence.

Be advised; Futuremark is looking into allowing you to straight up activate existing 3DMark Vantage and 3DMark 11 product keys on Steam - assuming all goes well, this should be possible in the near future.
