Crashing almost immediately
The game would always crash when I get past the title screen. I get to the screen with the line "It was a winter's day eight years ago" and as soon as I click to proceed to the next line, it crashes. I've tried clicking other buttons to try to open the config screen, etc but as soon as I click anything, crash.

Anyone else have this issue or know of a fix? I'm playing on my PC and not steam deck.

The game does not work with launch options. So, if you had added them previously then remove it and then and verify files. This will fix it.

To check launch options: go to the the game settings on steam -> properties -> General -> launch options

If you don't have added any launch option:
Then reinstall the game and verify files.
Hope this helps.

I don't have any launch options and already reinstalled and verified files but still getting the crash sadly.

Not sure if it helps but in event viewer, it says it crashed due to a faulty module, ntdll.dll

Which Windows do you have? I have same crashes on Windows 7, so Windows 10 is minimum for this game, sadly.

I'm also having a similar problem. I deleted the launch option and it didn't work. I have reinstalled the game and restarted my PC many times. It was working fine before I entered the launch options. Help me.

Windows 11 so I shouldn't have any issues on that front.

Now that the problem has been resolved, I'll share how I did it. Steam library→ game properties → delete launch options → disabled save game to cloud and overlay in the game.→ Uninstall the game. Open steam→steamapps→common from File Explorer on your PC. DELETE "WITCH ON THE HOLY NIGHT" and empty the trash as well. Rebooted the PC and reinstalled.
If you want to go full screen, use "Alt + Enter".

I managed to fix mine, I had the same issue but literally no fixes, redownloading, etc worked. I am using soundblaster software in direct mode at over 300 kpbs sound quality, and that was breaking my game, I don't exactly understand how or why, but on my system disabling that option and going back to "normal" setting immediately fixed it. If you are running audio software or "direct mode" on your audio software, try reducing the settings to normal levels for this game. Hope this helps

Thanks for your help! I'm not using that but the game works for me now. I'm not sure why since the game patch and my windows updated at the same time but either way, something fixed it lol

I'm having the same issue. Shortly after seeing the first two lines of text, the screen went black and I got a pop up saying screen manager, some Japanese text, and then 00000005. There were two options Yes, and No. I've tried clicking both of them but to no avail. Any help? I am playing on a Microsoft Surface Go 2
