Golden Lap already includes many elements that aim to recreate the motorsport of the 70s:
+ the frequent crashes and DNFs
+ the frequent mechanical failures
+ the frequent deaths
+ team members showing up for the race weekend with a hangover
+ the numerous team member traits
The point system is indeed more modern, but we chose this in order to make the championship more interesting. You can always set up a different point system by using the mods functionality. Or if you feel that it's too much effort, there are already some brilliant mods from our community that use other point systems and increase the chance of crashes to make Golden Lap feel even closer to the 70s.
Of course, we are always open to feedback about the base game. If we ever decide to change the point system in the base game, which of the point systems used in the 70s do you think will improve the historical accuracy of Golden Lap while keeping the experience enjoyable?
Rest assured, we're constantly improving the balance and striving to make the game better and more fun!
That is why next week we'll be releasing a major update on the public beta branch. The core features of the update were again inspired by events in motorsport from the 70s. We'd love to see what you think about the new features! And we hope to see you around!
EDIT: The new features are now available in the Spy Update on the public-beta branch: https://steamcommunity.com/games/2052040/announcements/detail/527586104606457943
