Are there any retail stores that sell just the cable?
Or is it my best bet to buy it on Amazon? I checked Best Buy and Walmart, but no luck. Thanks!

Having trouble finding one myself. Both local game retailers and the online stores I've checked only sell the bundle D:

I got my second cable from Amazon... No muss no fuss.

I've never seen just the cable in stock anywhere, so you pretty much have to go the amazon route.

Back when it came out I looked all over, finally had to take the amazon route.

What was truly annoying was Gamestop wanted 40$ to order one, and Best Buy refused to even order one for me.

I got mine from JB Hi Fi. Dont know if you got one around you but I did see the cable for sale there a few hours ago

Yeah, here in Australia I've found the cable for sale by itself in JB HiFi

So if the cable isn't on sale anywhere for 75% off then the offer for anyone who actually wants to use this program isn't 75% off is it? Considering the worldwide lack of official cables sold individually, this is more like a 0% offer. Good luck finding a cable for PC for this which doesn't already include the software, because none of them are on sale.

This offer wasn't well thought out was it?

No. No it wasn't. :<

I've recently got myself an electric guitar (as opposed to my crappy acoustic) and I thought this game would be loads of fun. Then, a few days later, I see the offer... then I try to find the cable (I live in Poland), and... yeah... no.

Ironically, I can purchase the whole game with a cable without much fuss, but the cable itself (to make use of this promotion) is nowhere to be found. :<

What makes things even more silly, is the the cable is more expensive than the game bundle I can find in a local store.

It's their loss, they won't get many sales from Steam's half-baked sale, which means both companies lose out.

Potential customers aren't stupid.

Steam doesn't want to commit to selling physical goods, and they don't want to have a referral "claim your free physical product from vendors here" because the logistics isn't worth the money they'd make.

Rocksmith on Steam is like buying a game which requires two discs to install, but the second disc isn't sold online. Totally barmy.

I wonder who's idea was it for this sale - Steams or Ubisofts?

I can't shake the feeling there's something sinister going on here - i.e. someone's counting on sales made by people who don't notice the requirement for the cable till it's too late.
Music stores usually carry it over here.

It's 75% off the software - the software's standalone price is cheaper than the RRP of the bundle (which isn't available over Steam for obvious reasons) already.

Is this sale better than the sales on the bundle other retailers have? Probably not; but crying "this other store's sale had it cheaper" is not the same as trying to deceive you...

the reason for the 75% off is the new Rocksmith comes out in October.

If you don't want to specifically hunt down the "Real Tone" cable... see my thread http://steamcommunity.com/app/205190/discussions/0/864971765513060475/

There are alternatives...

My Setup:
------------------------------
[Gibson Les Paul] --> [Lightsnake USB] --> [Alienware M18X] --> [HMDI + Cables] --> [LED TV + Crate Amp]
