Greetings, Rocksmith Community!

While we’re excited to offer more information about Rocksmith+ in the future, we want to take some time to discuss news for the original Rocksmith. One of the unique aspects of the Rocksmith method has been the ability to learn and play along to official master recordings of your favorite songs. But as of October 17, 2021, Rocksmith (2011) will no longer be available for purchase on any digital storefronts. Shortly thereafter*, Rocksmith (2011) DLC will begin to be removed as well.

If you already own Rocksmith (2011) or any DLC from Rocksmith (2011), you will still be able to install, download, re-download, play, and use those products. You should experience no change or interruption in your access. If you do not own those products, you will not be able to purchase them digitally once they are delisted (removed from storefronts).

We couldn’t be prouder of what the original Rocksmith accomplished in the realms of both rhythm gaming and interactive guitar learning, and that first installment taught us an incredible amount about what guitarists and bassists expect from software that lets you play along with your favorite songs on a real instrument. It truly set the foundation upon which we’re still working to bring you the most innovative, interactive music learning experience possible.

“Can I still play Rocksmith (2011) on-disc songs or DLC on Rocksmith Remastered?”

Yes! If you have purchased Rocksmith (2011) and the Rocksmith Disc Import Pack (Xbox) / Disc Export Access (Playstation) / Disc Import Tool (Steam) or any Rocksmith (2011) DLC before their delisting, you can continue to play that content on Rocksmith Remastered.

“Are delisted songs being removed everywhere?”

Yes—when Rocksmith (2011) and any associated DLC is delisted, it will be removed from all digital storefronts, including Steam, the Xbox Marketplace, and the PlayStation Store.

“When will the delisting take place?”

Rocksmith (2011) will be removed from all digital storefronts on October 17, 2021, with DLC to follow over time*. Information on future DLC delisting will be posted here: https://discussions.ubisoft.com/category/726/news-announcements?lang=en-US.

“I own Rocksmith (2011) on disc—will that still work?”

Yes! If you have previously installed the disc version of Rocksmith (2011) on your account, you will still be able to access your owned content. Product keys for Rocksmith (2011) that have not yet been activated will no longer work after October 17.

*With the sole exception of the Xbox 360 marketplace where, due to technical limitations, all Rocksmith (2011) DLC will be delisted at the same time as the full version of Rocksmith (2011) on Oct 17, 2021. Players on Xbox One, PS3, PS4, and Steam should refer to this link for information on when DLC will be delisted on those platforms.

Ubisoft, please listen to your fans. The whole PR responses isn't working out for anyone. I can tell the removal of the DLCs is just a way to incentivise customers by shifting their focus onto the upcoming DRM-ridden, online-only, subscription-based service. While there is convenience to having a subscription-based model, it's not for everyone. And the fanbase has been pretty outspoken so far.

If Rocksmith+ incorporates an offline mode along with an option to purchase songs to keep instead of renting them then cool. And if they implement the songs which have been removed from this iteration then that's all well and good.

Unfortunately, there were songs I was hoping to buy which have been removed and there haven't been any discounts for a while which is shameful. It's basically taking advantage out of people's desperation, knowing they have a limited amount of time to purchase what's left.

As someone who likes to collect older titles and wants to make full use of all these experiences, you're doing everything possible to discourage people like myself from even wanting to spend a single penny on the forthcoming title. All this is doing is promoting piracy and other bad practices from the consumer side of things.

What your company is partaking in is the digital era of book burning which has never played out well for anyone in the past.

I just wish Ubisost leave alone Rocksmith & Rocksmith 2014 and renegotiate the licesing of the songs. When Rocksmith+ came out, people are gonna use it, people are looking for the new. People forget that Ubisoft is a company a big one, is just looking for the money, and looks like Ubisoft is no making money from *Rocksmith & Rocksmith 2014* But when those games are gone, the only way for players is gonna be PIRACY, I dont think that with the coming of Rocksmith+ those who use CUSTOM DLC are gonna stop, I think the problem will become worse because there's less options for players. I never used CUSTOM DLC's and I feel betrayed with the delisting of Rocksmith, if ubisoft left to die Rocksmith 2014, I gonna help my friends to get the game before is gone and get CUSTOM DLC's.
ROCKSMITH 2014 CAME OUT IN OCTOBER 2013, almost 10 years ago, so BEWARE and be READY. ROCKSMITH+ is just the way to keep under control the licesing, piracy, and make a bunch of money, is like Adobe Photoshop, ROCKSMITH 2014 is gonna die too, so fight back...

They've legitimately endorsed pirating since they're purposefully trying to shift people's attention from these earlier entries to their newer rental-only service. It is what it is. Hopefully one day there'll be another pro-consumer company to come along, make something similar and do things the right way.

i dont quite get it. does this mean that all the DLC songs for this game are now entirely unavailable? from what i've gathered CDLC creators are not allowed to post rips of an official DLC tab online, so is it entirely impossible to play the DLC songs from this game in the 2014 remaster? it sounds like a downright evil attempt to push people onto the crappy new rocksmith service.

sorry for the late reply but just to be clear: they've been stripped from the official store, so there's now absolutely no way to buy or play them anymore?

Exactly. Well to be honest, I'm not sure if any of them are or will be part of the subscription based game but the only way to play them in Rocksmith 1/2014 is if you had already purchased them before they were removed from the store (unless you fly the skull and crossbones as you sail the seas)
