The issue is weird. It almost always has happened when playing in the Event mode. I can pluck the string(fingers or pick) and the screen will show the string vibrating(i can hear it through speakers as well), but doesn't detect it played. If i go into Tuning... it will detect every string as in tune and say I'm good.. but going back to song it keeps saying to check volume. Odd that it can detect the tuning correctly, but doesn't detect it when trying to play a note. Been playing OG rocksmith mostly to get achievments, but usually get frustrated when this happens and go back to 2014. Same cable.. same drivers.. works fine all the time in 2014.
