UI is really confusing.

I'm no stranger to WOT and Warthunder's UI. It has always been a complete mess. Now, in this game, it is hilariously bad. How is any newbro supposed to know wtf is going on, being that this game is a menu simulator more than it is a shooter?

It's really jank TBH, but you get used to it if you stick around enough. Completely non intuitive but functional is a good way to describe it.

I have no complaints with the UI, but I'd like more options for key bindings. For example I'd like to order my squads to stay in close or wide formation with with button, instead of two

its very overwhelming and tedious on the soldier menu but if you do the games job for yourself and go on youtube there is a few guides that explain what does what.

Its pretty decent actually go look up videos on youtube if you struggling. I mean its not COD, and WT if you know how to use UI well its not to hard to learn this one at all. Pretty sure this is a you problem as I gotten 3 people try this game and not one complained about UI just about the bad players in it...
