I do really wish that this game offered more hardcore, simulator focused, realism modes. I think the base of the game is perfect for this type of gameplay, but I settle for the arcade game we have and I think it does a better job than some tactical shooters with its movement and ballistics/physics/realism, it just does not actually exist as a tactical shooter itself.
Few games have them, even fewer pvp games have them. Having it for a ww2 game makes the experience more authentic to how CQB was/is, instead of only having fights between one or a few people.
The damage mechanics are also nice, say as opposed to battlefield's where it takes way too many bullets to kill something. Other games with similar damage mechanics are squad, rising storm, red orchestra, verdun, etc. .You can't really have slaughter mechanics without the appropriate damage models anyway. Some games have moments where slaughter mechanics are present despite having no bots, like in rising storm when there were organized banzai charges (so fun!).
One thing I can't stand is when shooters have the following experience (think COD and BF): You get the drop on 3 people, by the time you get 3-5 hits on one guy, the other two are pouring on you and kill you possibly even before you get enough hits to kill one. This (frustrating) example simply doesn't happen in enlisted. When you get the drop, you can pin a whole group down with a single mag and probably kill them all, plus, in enlisted, it's not just 1 or 3 kills in that kind of encounter, it can be up to 10 or more - it's just so satisfying and everything happens so fast.
Highlight reels in other ww2 shooters that are far and few in between happen in nearly every engagement in enlisted. The level of crazy ♥♥♥♥ that happens reminds me of the fun I had playing BF1942 back in the day (which at the time, was a breakthrough in ww2 FPS when it came to scale).
As an aside, something i used to do growing up was using console commands in shooters to spawn AI units and have big bot fights and help your side slaughter them. It's fun, it always has been - enlisted captures that experience at times. I'm not even mad when I'm on the business end of it either, it's fun to watch.
Yeah, I've noticed that if you just play for fun and don't try to sweat you can kind of have an experience in Enlisted that is in multiplayer what old shooters were in single player, you don't need to do everything in a rush you can take a slow creeping movement and be successful, I just wish they didn't force you into such a small part of the map so much
