That's not how pings work... Not sure if ping is the word you meant, but a ping would not give you info regarding number of people connected.
Try it in command prompt: ping 8.8.8.8
This is Google's public DNS... It provides no such data.
You can't just "ping servers and see how many people are playing on a games server at one time", because it's simply not how things (softwares and networking) work, you would need API support, a simple ping does nothing.
Steam's API works for Steam games, as Steam knows about the number of players currently playing each game on their platform and discloses it, but only on their platform.
The only scummy person here is you, who thinks you deserve to get to play a game for free. I literally only started playing this game today and its not bad. You're a bitter loser who can't afford to pay devs for something thats enjoyable then you'll cry when the game dies off. Premium players subsidise your existence because you're a loser commie who thinks you should get everything for "free"
This actually really is interesting... If someone had the time they could absolutely go through and get active players (those sitting on the menu aren't necessarily active ... but could be doing inventory stuff) over the course of an hour and then show that over the course of a week to get a good read of active players in games. Since you could compile this info into excel you could take out duplicates within each hour segment...to leave just 1. There is also a list of all bots, so could use that to eliminate all the bot players from said info.
With that information available (just would be a pain in the rear to compile ... not to mention the time to do it), you actually really don't have much reason to not release active numbers, why doesn't DF release them, just curious? I've been told that the game is growing since the merge and since the steam release, but no real stats to show it in reality.
I mean monthly players i know are in the 50k+ range, at least during the April Fools event ... since I was below 50k in the leaderboard (not much into zombies, mostly did the bare minimum to get the event rewards and then left the mode to play the main game).
The year is 2024 and wealth is determined by how much money you spend on virtual soldiers or yearly premium time to play a free game. You can choose either you pay 20-40 buck a year to play free game or buy hll for 40 bucks and never pay again.
Most people play bad, don't build rally points and rely on vehicles.
In order to win you need to capture points and you can only do it with infantry.
Yes grey zone tanking is annoying, but with planes you can deal with it.
To me the first major problem is the matchmaking. For start, I would like to see if there are teams in the opponents and which are the bots on both teams. Now that I am grinding Japan, often I find myself with 2 other players against a full opponent team.
Second the BR system. Good in theory, wrongly implemented. It would be better tiers 1+2 one group, 3+4 second group and BR5 alone.
Third the fact that you can't choose maps or types of battle (conquest, invasion, assault etc). As Japan 85% of the time I am on the defense, and its kind of annoying.
For the record I only play in BR2 because I enjoy the game more in low BR and I like the maps better than BR5.
I mean i dont know man
Is this official or just your opinion? I know some people ask it but I haven't read something official.
