Which one to get if you don't have neither, 1 or 2?
I've seen a lot of mixed opinions here and in reddit, and I was wondering if there are many differences between both versions
I wanted it just to play singleplayer really, so I would not mind if one is more dead than the other

Id say whichever one is on a better sale.

HOT WHEELS UNLEASHED™ 2 is basically just HOT WHEELS UNLEASHED™ 1 just with a few minor changes, I would recommend HOT WHEELS UNLEASHED™ 2 since the dev's are done with the first game. I also agree with TyberWortex, should wait for a good sale.

I played the first one for a while already after grabbing it on sale earlier this year. Now I've also grabbed the second one because it too gotten a complete sale with huge discount. My first impression is the first game being a bit more interesting because the AI is quicker and the cars have a huge variety in their handling. Second game felt easier, except for you having to jump over obstacles which is a bit odd at first but you get used to it quickly. First game has cooler collab and funny cars, second game has cooler minatures of real cars. First one has simple and clear menus, second game has more modern style smartphone menus. Second game has bikes and quads while the first does not.

I'd say both are nice fun racers and worth around 15-20 bucks for the whole package. But I wouldn't play them for hours on end, nor would I ever have paid the original price without large discount.

I'm certainly late, but the games are different enough for me to consider them both worth it, but if you're only gonna get one get the sequel. HWU2 adds more mobility to the core controls by dashing in all kinds of directions which can shake up the track design and player interaction, while the first game doesn't have that and might feel more like a standard arcade racer to start off with
