AI bots in multiplayer and offline
Hopefully this one is going to have AI bots in multiplayer so I can play with a friend in a private lobby and other AIs. Also AIs on custom made tracks. Otherwise I'm not going to buy it again.

Edited with answer after playing:

There is no AI at all on custom tracks. Either online multiplayer, split screen, or single player, there is no AI bots if a custom track is selected.

For official maps, you can have AIs only in single player or split screen multiplayer. So even if official map is selected, there is no AI at all if playing online multiplayer and no possibility to add it.

Only split screen there is AI, so in local multiplayer on same device.

(1) Is that only on official tracks? Or also on custom made tracks? As the latter I am looking for if that is in the game, as I was missing that in the previous game.

(2) Local multiplayer, with how many players is this possible? Still only 2 as in the previous game, or more?

(3) Is it possible for the single player game, to play on custom tracks with AI? As this was also something missing on the first game.

Hope you can shed some light on these issues, and if they have been fixed in the sequel.

OK, just tested some more.

1) ONLY on official tracks and only in single player or split screen (local multiplayer) you can have AIs.
AI is automatically disabled for any custom track if a custom track is selected. Even if you are playing single player on a custom track, there is still no AI, it will be just you. That applies to any game mode (normal race, elimination, drift, time attack etc). So it is exactly the same situation as in the first game.

2) Local multiplayer is possible with only 2 players, just like in previous game.

3) It is not possible not even in single player games to play vs AI on custom tracks. If a custom track is selected, AIs will automatically be disabled and you will race alone.

So in conclusion, the situation is EXACTLY the same as in first game.
You can't have AIs in custom tracks, no matter how you play, either single player. multiplayer, or local multi/split screen -> no AI at all for custom tracks.
The only occasion you will have AIs (apart from single player campaign) is in either singleplayer or local-multiplayer/split-screen-in-2 for the quick races and ONLY on official maps.

UGH...really?! No AI on custom tracks is what killed the first game for me, can't believe games from nearly 20 years ago can do this but not this one. Crazy, what a shame. Guess I'll pass on this one unless they ever add it via an update which I doubt.
Maru 19 OCT 2023 a las 5:29 p. m.
no ai, + no story co-op kills it for me both times too
Kuro 19 OCT 2023 a las 8:42 p. m.
its the same ♥♥♥♥ as the first one? what are the devs smoking?
Aerugo 19 OCT 2023 a las 11:55 p. m.
why no AI in custom maps? Come on, I wanted to buy this game :cubesad:
Hitpawz 20 OCT 2023 a las 7:49 a. m.
There is a VERY solid chance that the AI is not coded to read any form of track and that any with jumps or transitions will require trigger points to feed that information to the bots as they pass through it on the fly.

It isn't impossible to code it to work on any track but it's difficult. I think the easiest solution would be for the devs to go through and pinpoint the aspects of where and why their AI cannot function and then either figure out how to code that to automatically be added to the spline based on its vector or...literally just give the players AI tools in the forms of trigger volumes with some behavior settings.

The devs probably assume the players just wants this entirely for free (not talking about money, but effort cost) and that's not true. Almost every track builder would spend the time to tune the AI racers if they actually could.

Give us braking zones, jump triggers...etc.

Again, not impossible but definitely a huge effort by the devs. I think it's worth it because this game's reputation is decreasing with each release and not the other way around...so my official advice for the devs is if you don't fix THIS by the next installment, don't install it because most everybody's about tired of that at this point.

Thanks so much for testing and sharing this, so no buy for me then. As there are no improvements on the sections where I would have liked them on the sequel. I will just keep enjoying the first game and look for better race games that encourage creativity and a shared gaming experience (including computer players and opposition) from the couch elsewhere.

I will be playing the old PC game Crashday again soon I think, where there is AI possible on Custom Tracks, still not ideal as they do not know how to deal with Stunts in the game. I made special AI friendly Stunts on my tracks to get around this. At least it is better than nothing, even with the outdated graphics ;-) . Got 228 hours in that game, mainly because the game Crashday encourages creativity (creating tracks to race versus AI / modding and creating new cars) way better than this game does.

But then what is stopping them from at least letting people enable AI in multiplayer on official maps that already have AI bots working on them. Why can't I make a private lobby with a friend, pick an official map (which has AIs if you play it alone), and add some AIs?????

It just boggles my mind how they skipped this, and they've done it for a 2nd time now. Just unbelievable.

And what makes it even more annoying is the lack of any input by someone from Milestone here. They are nowhere to be seen. Nothing! It's like here's a game, do whatever you want in here, you are alone, we're not present. This goes to tell you that this game was made for the license, make an extra buck, have it on a bundle on consoles at times, some subscription that will give them some money, that sort of thing. They dont give a ♥♥♥♥ about what the community wants, there is no research AT ALL, no ♥♥♥♥ s given.

The funny thing is... Without Isuckatdriving's videos I wouldn't even know this existed at all. There is zero marketing, zero improvements compared to the first game. A scatchy dead on arrival game for money laundering or something.

To bad tho since it looks like fun for a couple sessions in mp.

Absolutely mind boggling how this even exists since the first game wasnt successful either.

After seeing the reviews I was genuinely hyped and I was gonna buy the most expensive version. But this issue was a deal killer for me in the first game and still a deal killer. I could understand no AI's for custom tracks, but no AI's in official maps is just dumb. There's no technical reason they couldn't do it. They probably just didn't want to put in the time. Oh well.... If they patch in AI's at least for official tracks in the future then I'll be glad to purchase at that time.

They could really benefit from putting effort into their games and maybe using AI to learn how people drive on custom tracks. Even if you didn't share your tracks on the workshop, the AI could learn from your own attempts and it could improve as you do.

In the end, you could have a spectrum of difficulty options based on how long the AI has been learning, and you could get it up to your level, meaning you will be able to have an intense yet possible challenge racing against your own ability if you wish.

They could go even further by allowing you to download other player's difficulties, making it so that you can play against more difficult opponents and you yourself can then learn how to improve.

Maybe it's too difficult to create, but I think almost all racing games at this point have pitiful AI.

Perhaps I am being unrealistic and the technology is not there yet, but I do hope to see some change in the AI of racing games before I die of old age :winter2019joyfultearssnowman:

But you can d/load user made tracks and use them for time trials at least right? I liked the first one a bit from my limited playtime at a friends house, this one looks like it's even better so I may buy.I wishlisted it,waiting for the first sale.

Its not possivle due to invisable tracks

Huh? There are tracks that have built in AI bots in singleplayer. Yet, the same tracks in multiplayer dont have AI bots.
