I only keep a shotgun on me for dealing with mutants and for that purpose the best rounds to use are shot. I used to keep the other ammo types on me but after trying to use them on even some of the weakest mutants and finding out the game sucks at switching to them and they can't 1 shot even with a headshot I decided to put them away. They weigh too much and aren't worth what limited ranged accuracy they provide when I can just pull out an assault rifle for that purpose.
Interesting that the spsa-14's strength is reliability. It's a shame the game doesn't provide a stat for that but at least now I know, not that i've ever had a jam on my chaser 13.
I guess that's answered well enough, now i'm trying to decide if I want to put away my trs and start using the trophy ak since I finally got my hands on 400 rounds of 7.62 PP ammo. I'm not sure if I like the idea of using a weapon without a scope whose ammo weighs so much and I only have a total of 400 rounds for. There's no arguing with that power/accuracy though...
If you want universal fast shooting weapon for monster hunting get either Trophy AK (it uses machine gun ammo) or RP-74 (its too bulky for general use though) which will down anything with few shots (in case of pseudogiant it takes 30-60 depending on dificulty)
That's some pro necro work there resurrecting my almost 2 1/2 year old thread. I can't say I even remember the game well enough to comment (i'm not sure I even played much more after making this thread) but I do vaguely remember that my limited testing made the chaser 13 seem like the better shotgun.
I only ever used shotguns against mutants so I have no idea how the two fare in a fire fight but iirc the chaser 13 put down the mutants I was testing the weapons on faster than the spsa 14.
What you really seem to be recommending here is a unique variant, not the spsa 14 itself. I assume it being named/unique means it generally performs better than the normal version so I should hope that makes it better than the chaser 13.
None of this really matters anymore though since I haven't played the game in over 2 years and don't really intend to. I guess this information could still be useful to someone else trying to make this decision though.
Indeed. I suppose that might have an effect on the information you provided throughout this thread.
