Performance
So, i playing trough the series in preparation for Stalker 2.
The first game is done, it was great. The second i have some issues, mainly the big aura around NPC-s and the poor performance.

I know the auro is baked in, so i try to deal with it, but the performance im not sure, what setting causes it.

My specs are great. 4070S i5 13600, 32gram.

And when is start the game it runs great. I can run this with my monitor max refresh rate as expected from modern hardware. The not so great thing is, after i while my performance drops considerably. I start to fluctuate and even dips below 70. Which is not ideal for me.

So is there a setting i should tweek? I already disabled the AA and decreased the grass density, but the drops still happen.

If i restart the game where it drops below 70, i can get again 144 for a while.

Im at the start, but restarting the game every 10 min or so will be old soon.

Any tips Stalkers?

I play on 1440p and the game runs fine, but i think after reloading it gets worse and worse and i need a restart eventually.

Okay, I think if you put the game into DX 9 mod, the problem goes away. Not 100% but looks good so far.

DX9 gives you better performance but you unfortunately lose some graphical effects.

In my case, with my 6900XT, I was able to get better performance and less stutters, on DX10, by going into the game's exe file > properties > "disable fullscreen optimizations".

The game tends to also have inconsistent drops if you leave the framerate uncapped. The in-game Vsync option is broken so disable that, go to your GPU's control panel, and force vsync to see if that makes a difference. It certainly did on my end.

One last hoora:
Use NT Core's 4GB patch to allocate more RAM to the game. The game's exe (XRay something) is 32-bit only, and only uses 2GB of system memory. I can't guarantee the patch will give you overall better performance, but it can prevent other issues.

1440p, DX10, max settings (any AA is turned OFF), forced Vsync. Pretty much hits my monitor's 144Hz refresh rate almost constantly, even past an hour of gameplay and quite a few loading screens.

Extra potential fixes here:

(Highly HIGHLY recommend the Sky Reclamation Project pack listed on this wiki; keeps the game vanilla and fixes tons of issues).

Thanks I will try this.

My game also maxes out frame wise, even I increased the grass draw distance and it's fine. I have some stutter but it's not that bad, I can live with that. It's the traversal stutter but it fast and it doesn't bother me that much for some reason.

I also use SRP too.

I will try out the 4gb patch and the disabling full screen optimization.

But i think dx9 looks fine, I know I loose wet surfaces and volumetric fog, but it doesn't loose performance or not that fast.

Does the 4Gb patch works for CoP too?
As I soon finish Clear Sky.

I installed the 4GB patch, then changed extended full dynamic lighting (DX10) to extended full dynamic lighting, vsync enabled in the nvidia panel and the game, the rest of the settings to max, my resolution is 1440p, 165hz monitor. Now I have 165fps all the time. I no longer have any fps drops. Maybe it will help someone. Regards.

Dunno if this is the same problem but my game uses 100% gpu and makes my coolers go crazy. I tweaked some settings, lowered them, disabled stuff, and it's still like this, up untill the point i alt+tab out of it anbd my task manager shows it insta-drop to 3%. I have no performance issues, game runs almost smoothly on max, maybe a missing a frame or two someplaces, but no matter the setting it's making my PC go haywire on videocard and cook. Anyone else having this problem or know how to fix something like that?

Turn sun rays to low, plenty of performance guides out there. Sun rays and SSAO are poorly optimized. Game is actually pretty intensive, can play BF1 4k ultra but can barely run CS in 1080p

Mabye too late, I disabled those two DX10 thingies in settings (one is in the normal menu and one is in that advanced settings menu) and my FPS jumped from 100+- to stable 900, maybe it could help.
Tweaking other things didnt increase anything by much.

Could you specify which settings? Tried looking for them, but all I can see that relates to DX10 is Turn On/Off DX10 option in the advanced settings (which btw is greyed out by default for me and I can't seem to turn it on).

I dunno why but this stalker actually seems to run the best for me out of the trilogy, very smooth and solid with no crashes at all. Same with cop, and soc started running very smooth too once I installed the old complete mod.

Maybe some of the older mods that don't add to many changes could help these games work better?
Bazzy Dec 6, 2024 @ 9:14pm
I just came from Shadow of Chernobyl at 144 fps, even heavily modded.
https://www.moddb.com/mods/xpresstunings-remaster-edition
https://www.moddb.com/mods/original-weapons-renewal-3-for-soc/addons/wapondamage

Now I have my game locked at 125 fps and I have not even started modding the thing.
What the hell is going on with it? Is there an .ini or .cfg file I could look into the gett the framerate closer to my desired 144hz monitor?

I run the thing on an RTX 3070, even at 1080p still, so I can't imagine it has anythign to do with my hardware.

Edit: Oh and I only put the game on DX 9 Dynamic Lighting mode, yet.
