Help getting past Cordon Machine Gunner
Right at the start of Cordon the dude with the machine gun can bascially have instant lock on to me the moment I leave cover. Anyone know how I can get past this to go to the village and continue?

Now I kind use the SRP mod it changes that portion of the game (not that I noticed that much dif), but I needed it for the ATI texture glitch missing cameo issues meh.

So they meant for it to be that way? I've tried your tactic but there are also roaming squads looking for me and I just get finished off by them :/ I think I need to go back to the swamps and get some better gear.

You might try the folowing tho this is hard but do-able. once you leave the cave entrance super crouch(shift and lft ctrl) work your way to the fence to your Left follow the fence down the slope after a while the wire fence will go to your left i.e a sort of dog-leg you will see a fallen tree and between it and the fence you are creeping along (now at this point the machine gunner might of spotted you so next bit is either run like f**k or crawl) there is a gap in the fence, go thru this and try to keep to your left and run, run. You will be in a highly radiated area so you will need Antirads and or Vodka (its crazy trying to run while drunk and avoid bullets lol. And god willing you can meet up with Cid. good hunting Stalker.

Lower the difficulty level. On the harder levels, getting past the machine gun is extremely hard. When you're past the MG, raise the difficulty back up.

There is an alternate way from the swamp at the northern farmstead to the cordon, this takes you to the loner base (go there first, and talk to the leader, otherwise you may run into hostile loners), bypassing the military.

Don't do this. He is not a true Stalker. Run like hell to your left. Run and don't look back.

Personally what i did was sneak down to the fallen tree and from there follow cover as far as it goes and when you get to the field between you and the Cordon, run like hell.

Hehe there are several threads on this subject, we all got stuck in that place and scratched our heads with the mandatory "wtf".
You will see a tree stump, thats roughly the direction you have to run. So press x and start running...and keep running.
If you get hit, that will take you out of run so you must press x again, also make sure you are not overburdened.
Its easily doable and most the time you dont even get hit at all. Practice a few times until you get it right.

like above go back through the swamp and up to the other exit into the cordon. On master level its next to impossible cos the military is shooting behind a metal sheet through a slit on the second floor of the building and they send a patrol to get you. To try and shoot back is a waste of precious ammo.

Funny, I could run away every time without any problem... Sometimes the machine gun doesn't even hit me...
When you enter the area start SPRINT immediately, and turn left as soon as possible( before the lying tree, not after!). Shouldn't be a problem.

Haha, this guy stopped, but he still successfully escaped. So thats why I don't understand those who stuck there.:

Its easier if you past a few trees, then shoot at the soldiers and wait for them to come over. I got them all with a Sawn Off and a Pmm, but it took a decent bit of ammo. You will, undoubtedly get hit a few times as the MG pierces the trees, but he'll stop shooting after losing sight of you for a bit. Stick to the left side of the base and try and come up behind them. There's a crate in the barracks which should have tons of 5.45x39mm ammo, so you can whip out your own AK and return a bit more punishment! Hope this helped. :DJSkully:

I played this part again just yesterday. Took me many tries, but I made it by just dead sprinting all the way to the fallen tree, and I jump on top and one more jump to clear it. Then I gumped it out of there. Got hit only about 3 different times, and was able to use bandages/medkits. Playing on veteran.

As soon as you load into Cordon you will notice the other path open up north in the swamp. Because the machinegunner has near perfect accuracy even at night, I have to think the devs intended you to take the other route. It's still very badly designed either way, and the machine gunner frustrates me because it's just downright unfair and beyond unrealistic.

The military base in Cordon is a cash farm whenever you need some quick money. You beat the MG by going behind the base, through the broken fence and over the back wall. Take out the soldiers one at a time--the MG gunner is the last one--satisfactory kill. So, you can't beat the military early in the game, but you will be able to soon and whenever you want. I go there when I need $$$. Should have decent armor, good/modded rifle and some artifacts for health/bleeding. I can take the base in -15 min. Have fun!

cheeesus, glad im not the only one, that mg has the best accuracy in the world and the soldier using it has eagle eyes, the other route indeed was the best way

There is a lot of stones that you need to hide behind. Its real easy at any difficulty. You run behind the stone, sit there for a moment. Commander will say that the target is lost. You start running to the second stone, and do the same thing. MG cant hit or see you behind the stones.
