everyone has their faves tho. Any basic AK variant can carry you through the game.
SHotguns are always OP and situational as well.
Its good to have a mix of several tools for different situations rather than 1 gun that can do everything.
I prefer the Freedom nato 5.56 guns like the m16 and such because that round rips mutants and humans unlike the russian rounds which just have alot of armour pen but very little flesh damage.
Having said that the most usefull and best gun for the whole game would be whichever shotgun you prefer. It has the highest potential in terms of efficiency, killing power and price.
For me I always pick guns based on their Iron Sights and or mounting options. I hate assault rifles with fixed scopes or annoying rails or handles like the trs and tunder just because they are bulky and obscure my view and i love iron sights.
The best gun in the game is the Gauss rifle.
Best Slave gun is prob the AN-94 ( buit thats a sniper)
Best Nato gun is prob the M4.
On paper other guns do more dmg such as the one you are using sure but have janky reload animations, lack of attachments or fixed attachments etc.
I personally really like the AS-Val the silent ar without a scope that shoot sthe sub sonic 9x39 rounds. Just because it looks dope, has amazing iron sights, low recoil, has a silencer and can equip a scope if i want. It does drastically less dmg than some of the other AR's but it works for me.
If you really want a grenade launcher then try all the other guns that can mount one and see for yourself. Play around with them all. None are bad and none are really the best. SOme are better on paper but not in the field. Experiment a bit its fun. Or use that gun for this play through and try another one next time :)
There are also GP37 and FT-200M — two unique 5.56 rifles. The GP37 is a reward for completing all stalkers side quests at the Army Warehouses, and FT-200M is a reward for capturing the bridge that leads to the Limansk city (return back to CS base to get it).
