Clear Sky Won't Load
I know this game is old, don't @ me, but I'm just now getting into the series and I just beat SoC yesterday. I loved it so much I bought the other two games ahead of time and when I went to install Clear Sky it installed fine, but as soon as I click to play it the splash screen pops up for about three seconds and goes away and nothing happens after that. I've tried every fix I could find most resulted in me having to uninstall and reinstall the game about a dozen times and others were fixes I couldn't even try because they called for steps I couldn't do. ****TD;LR: I cant get S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky to run. I'm running Windows 10 on an Omen laptop. Not sure which specs are relevant or a potential issue.

According to the symptoms, I can guess that you have the common "broken user.ltx" problem which is polluting the Steam edition.

Solution:
Open the game folder, copy user.ltx file and paste it into _appdata_ folder.

It is recommended to disable Steam and Nvidia Geforce Experience overlays. Especially, Steam overlay is the most probable reason of the broken user.ltx.

The game folder has a gamedata folder but not an _appdata_ folder, is it okay to just create one? Also once I copy and paste user.ltx into the folder, do i leave the original or delete it?

Yes, it is okay to create it.
Don't delete the user.ltx that is in the game folder.

So, a little update. I have verified the game files via steam, copied and pasted the user.ltx file, disabled steam overlays, disabled firewalls, updated my drivers, and even tried reinstalling the .exe file and trying to run it from the .exe file instead of the desktop shortcut or the steam menu. I have basically tried everything i've read online that can be done on a windows 10 version. What makes it all that more confusing is Shadow of Chernobyl, the oldest of the trilogies, works perfectly fine but the later ones both have the same crash issue.

Disable Steam cloud for this game. It keeps uploading the broken user.ltx for some reason. Happened to me too.

*sigh* unfortunately that didn't work either...I'm running Windows 10 Home. I don't know if that helps, I don't know if that could possibly be the problem. Maybe a compatibility issue? I feel like i'm running out of options here, lol..

I Love You! I spent at least 12 hours without lying trying to fix the error.

Another update: I've tried running it in compatibility mode for every windows option, I've adjusted colored mode and tried scaling my DPI. I tried moving the user.ltx, verified files, disabled overlays, disabled steam cloud, turned off all KNOWN firewalls and/or antivirus programs, i've tried running it from steam itself, the desktop shortcut, and the .exe file within the game folder. I'm beginning to think I don't have a way to fix this issue or im just doing something wrong.

How do you disable the Nvidia Geforce Experience overlays? I unchecked the box for the steam overlay but I don't know how to do the Nvidia one.

Okay guys...i'm an idiot and after an extensive search I found a firewall I didn't even know I had installed and disabled it and the game finally works! I work all day so i've only had time to read suggestions and try different solutions in my off time so after a week of having a dead game it's finally working. Thank you all for your patience and assistance.
