Does anyone know how the crosshair target distance setting works?
The left number is distance, but I don't know what unit. And I have no idea what the other two numbers are.

Turn off your crosshaire and become a real stalker. Honestly tho not even trolling just turn it off, makes the game much more immersive without a dot and numbers in the middle of your screen...

I actually was thinking like Heresy once but I disagree because if you wanna be a true stalker you gotta learn about your distances and flatness; you must learn to calculate how much higher than the enemy's head you should shoot otherwise you'll either waste so much ammo or get too close which is both impossible in hard modes like misery mod!

This will all come in time with feel with or without a crosshaire and without numbers. After a while you will be able to compensate bullet drop over distances with experience using different calibres. Does not take long either.

Theres only one type of bullet with severe drop and its the ammo for the VSS Vintorez and AS-VAL. This is subsonic ammo with very little powder in the case for under 1000 fps. Its a very slow round with massive drop on anything over 100 yards.

Amazing, three responses and not one even attempted to answer the question originally asked. I guess using this as a resource for intelligent answers is a bust. I too am trying to decipher what the other numbers in the "distance to target" display are. I tend to try and shoot my targets from distances between 100 and 200 metres, which can be interesting as the targets seem to not hear you when using a silenced weapon and basically stand there waiting to get picked off one by one. Now I assume that the second group in the three group sequence is 0.00 when the distance is measurable, and changes to 1.00 indicating ∞ infinity. I have seen this number span between 0.00 and 1.00 only, so i believe they are the hard limits. The last single digit I have seen indicate 0, 1, 2, and 3, but have no clue as to what this number represents. PLEASE, If you do not know what these numbers represent, or even can offer up an assumption, no reply is necessary. Thanks in advance. Cheers.

Your first problem is even having your crosshairs enabled. Cheers.

Approximately one ten-millionth of the distance from the equator to the North Pole.

Just doing my part for years old posts.

The meter has been defined since before the IRL self-yeeting of the CNPP to based on the distance light travels in a vacuum for a particular period of time

I suspect it has something to do with AI visibility - the middle and right number changes when looking at the bushes.
