Any reason Clear Sky is cheaper than other 2 in the series?
Any reason the first and third games are twice the price?
Is Clear Sky worse? Shorter? Incomplete?

CS is the lesser standalone expansion between that and CoP - You can improve CS with community patches, addons, and various mods. Without them CS just isn't really worth playing with CoP being the best one.

Yeah, having never played a STALKER game before I jumped in with CoP, and so far I'm loving it.

Combat feels a little rough around the esges, but the atmosphere and open-ended immersion really make up for it.

STALKER won a bunch of awards for the atmopshere and overall world design. Not many games within this genre have the amount of cheeki breeki this series offers.

I've been playing for a few hours now, and no cheeki breeki, I kept hearing about the cheeki breeki, I was interested in the cheeki breeki, I anticipated the cheeki breeki, but so far, no cheeki breeki...what gives? I was expecting to be choking on cheeki breeki, swimming in oceans of cheeki breeki...but alas...not one drop of cheeki breeki so far.

The game has not found you worthy yet to drop a severe case of derp on your face, thus giving you the cheeki breeki.

Clear Sky is more focused on facton wars then it is actual storyline so thats why its cheaper.

You can get the total faction warefare mod too and make it better, but you won't be able to access the ending maps using it. (at least this is how it was when I played it)

It is cheaper because it is bugger. CS has always had problems with preformance and certain things not working right or quest working correctly. I remember the DVD v10000 was pure junk. Everyone on the stalker fourms was flipping out about it. One complaint after another. v10005 patch kind of help. The STEAM version seems to work better, but some things are still a issue such as combat and what not. And it is not very mod friendly...

But if I had to choose between the Steam version over the old DVD, I rather have the Steam version.. Even though it is not too mod friendly, it will still run them anyway pending on the mod..

Thanks for all the replies.

I'm glad I went with Call of Pripyat, maybe I'll come back later and grab the first two.

I had always heard that Clear Sky was the worst of the 3..... I have not played CoP at all and I've only played the very beginning of SoC, but I've found Clear Sky to be an AMAZING game. I've always used the Arsenal Overhaul mod.... maybe unmodded it sucks... but my personal experience of ONLY playing it with the AO mod- great game. If the other 2 are half as good I'll be quite happy.

There's a part of the game, specifically the Agroprom section that is so buggy, you'll be lucky to get past it. You spend loads of time saving money to get the best armor and then the game no longer works, unless you start completely over. When playing through that area, I suggest not doing any of the defend the camp missions, or at least not doing them more than once. Try not to spend too much time in the camp, because if you are there, the bandits will show up, and if you don't help defend, eventually they can take over the camp and kill the trader and everyone else. One Steam user said his issue was when he was on a Duty mission to retrieve a case of some sort. That's close to where my game crashed, but it has messed up twice in different ways (the first way wasn't a crash--the story just would not progress, because some triggers got stuck:
one was the zombie alarm in yantar not going off and allowing me to return into the science lab; another was that the hiding places where it told me to go to get away from the emissions didn't protect me--that might have been an intentional guiding device, I don't know; a third was that the first official Duty mission would not progress once I reached the checkpoint; so I somehow got painted into a corner), so I don't know what the exact trigger is. I'm wondering if it has something to do with body count. And it won't let me load any previous games no matter the graphics settings, and no matter that Steam updated and nvidia was updated. The other user I mentioned above started a new game and got it to work again, but there's no word as to whether he was able to make it past that point to finish the game. I'm hoping to find a fix without having to start over for the third time.
