Quick Question: Bandits ever wiped out?
Against the odds of the scripts, I have captured and held the depot in Garbage. Several waves of mutos later, but not seeing much reinforcements. "Bandits are defeated" says the game, but I know better...

Bandits still have 2.5 puppy bars on the stats tab and 0 resources. Can they ever completely go to zero? Where are the 2.5 Bandits? LOL...

Yes, patience is required for reinforcements from Cordon... Looking at the map for light green icons moving toward you. Happened once, not repeated so far. If I leave Garbage to collect rewards, I suspect all he77 will break loose, seen it happen, and sure you have as well.

We control flea market, depot, and all points south. Does the outpost northwest of depot (past the anomalies) need to also be 'held' to control Garbage?

I've read many threads on topic, sometimes CS vanilla Faction Wars works, sometimes it fails miserably, and I have seen that, but only second attempt to beat Bandits on my part after upgrading SEVA suit.

Do I just walk away from my faction now and leave them to their own devices? Move to next main story line quest? Will Garbage depot fall to nearly zero Bandits once again unless I'm 'there' ???

Playing only with SRP 1.1.3 and some tex mods.

The faction counts as defeated as soon as the base is captured. There is no need to go on the manhunt for every single enemy. You may view an actual amount (instead of tabs) in statistics tab of the PDA. I believe that's about 25 bandits or so. Note that only squads count towards the statistic, stray stalkers (like unique characters or just guys not belonging to any squad) do not.

There are five places you can meet bandits besides Garbage:
* Cordon (a squad Shilov asks you to eliminate, a squad Wolf asks you to eliminate);
* Dark Valley (a squad Ganja asks you to eliminate);
* Agroprom (the squads Orest asks you to eliminate as well as stray bandits who happen to fight Duty off their outposts);
* Agroprom Underground (you meet them when completing the storyline quest, and once you do that, they are replaced with a Duty squad).
* Limansk (you meet them when completing the storyline quest).

The rest of the 'bandits' you may meet (Agroprom stalker base prisoners, Red Forest bridge bandits, Red Forest mine bandits) are actually renegades.

Most of these guys are not likely to wipe out Depot and make bandits respawn again. Limansk and AGRU ones are unable to leave their location, DV and Cordon ones stay at the same place. The only possible but rare threat are Agroprom bandits, I've seen them go capture Depot (unsucccessfully). If you've completed Orest quests, no one can capture Depot. You may rest now.

Hey, thanks for reply and release from my charge! I kept holding the base to help you whinging stalkers, but I have to go товарищ, your music blaring over the PA system is mind-numbingly terrible, I just can't take it anymore...

EDIT: Nope "The bandits have overrun Garbage again, god only knows where they came from..."
I certainly don't, stalkers completely collapsed as I crossed to Cordon, maybe 5 min, just fed up...
Does this mean I can finish upgrading my SEVA? LOL...

I have not, too early in the game for that to happen yet. It just seems counter intuitive to loose the Garbage in a minute or two if all you do is step out to collect your reward at Cordon. I tried walking out, I tried guided 'fast travel' it didn't matter...

Reflecting on this, script issues like this might arise because we are playing old games on fast systems, the turn over of captured posts because there is nothing to slow down old scripts -- I don't know, but it is masochistic to the player who did their best to ensure their faction captured territory and defended it over waves and waves of mutos, then lost in a minute...

I can see why players hate this game. I'm just going to ignore the factions. If not broken, then just poor game design. I don't even know if any of the FW mods would make it worth a second play thru...
