xrengine.exe has stopped working

Suddenly I started getting this message and I cannot even start game to change options. It is clean install, win10 x64, no mods and the logs are these:

Reinstall windows and never EVER use that crap again.

Reinstall windows?? Why? What about CCleaner? It has not caused me any problems until now. I am just looking for a good dublicate file deleter.

Something similiar happened to me in SoChernobyl, the game didn´t want to start. Same engine problem, i fix it by installing a non-official patch. Something about the russian english translation caused that.

Same problem, suddenly the game stopped loading my saves when i get to the city of Limask. i´m so mad about it, almost 20 hour spent in the game and i will not be able to see the end. THis thing differs from my problem with SoC in the fact that i can start the game, see the menu, change the settings. But when the save finish loading... boom... and there is the crash.

Tried to change the video settings - Didn´t work.
Tried to open all of my last 7 saves before getting to Limask - Didn´t work.
Tried to change the compatibility of the XRENGINE.exe to Windows XP SP3 - WORKED!
But only with the autosave files... really weird.

I finally found a solution that works for me.

Go in C/Program Files(86)/Steam/Steamapps/Common/STALKER Clear Sky.

Then, delete the following folders: "_appdata_"; "bin" ; "directx". You must also erase the following files (in the same folder): "cycle_start.cmd" ; "fsgameltx" ; "installscript.vdf" ; "user.ltx".

Then, go in your Steam library, right click on STALKER, go on Properties, then on Local Files, and click on "Verify integrity of game files".

Steam will re download the files you've just erased (more or less 105 mo) and it should work.

This seems to be an issue with the settings Dx10.1 and Enh. Full Dyn. Lighting (DX10)

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\STALKER Clear Sky\bin

Delete xrRender_R3.dll

This will stop the game using Dx10 to render anything and will only load the Dx8 and 9 settings. At this point you should double check your video settings to ensure it has disabled the use of the aforementioned settings.

Close the game, validate the files, recover the deleted dll (not actually necessary to play the game) and set your video settings no higher than Maximum with Enhanced Full Dynamic Lighting, do not use the (DX10) variant.

I am unsure if it is a bug with the Dx10 installation in the game directory or otherwise but as they don't pay me to test these things I'm not going to bother.

Nope. xrengine stoppped working. I am really really frustrated atm. Trying for months for something and yet nothing worked.

Does it stop working immediately on starting the game?

I have just tested the bug with the lighting. Upon changing to Enh. Full Dyn. Lighting (DX10) and restarting the game will crash on start up.

Removing xr_Render3.dll or xr_Render2.dll and launching the game will fix this issue but will remove all graphical settings attributed to either. Once the game has been started and the settings confirmed you can simply undo the removal of those files and reboot the game. This will allow you to change the settings again.

Since you're having such issue with the game I'll try to find a fix for you that doesn't require file removal.

No the game crashes when I try to start a new game. The loading screen appears, starts loading data but then, "xrengine blah blah". Is there any more info I can give you to help you?
