it's kinda funny how upset people can get over someone preferring the OG games, like there is some objective list they strayed from.
I mean those games are being remade (again and again) for a reason and it's not because they were bad.

As much as people hate the controls, if you watch ANY review of the older titles it is always mentioned how impactful the carefully selected camera angles were and how the unruly controls in many ways lended itself to the claustrophobic gameplay. While everyone understand why you might hate it.. it's not a mystery as to why people like it for those same reasons.

One hundred percent, yes, the old controls were bad. I appreciate the new controls much more so. Thank you, Capcom for that! For those that prefer the old way, the option is still there for you.

I think you might be missing the point of this thread, though. I'm not necessarily saying that this is an old-school RE vs. new-school RE statement. I enjoy the REmakes much more so than the original games. That is concrete. This is merely THE list of main series RE games ranked.

I also enjoy RE Revelations and a few of the other RE titles, however, they are not main series. Also, for being half as good as the original games, because they are not main series, they can get away with more.

Oh, a lot of things.
I much prefer the old soundtrack.
For me this creates a completely different atmosphere between the two games.

Overall, the Original plays more smoothly
despite the tank controls, and I don't like a few enemy changes.

The Hunters are more dangerous in the OG, but I didn't like that
Zombie burning feature of the Remake and the fact that they mutate.

I prefer the old graphics, although the Remake does a really great job here.

I have to rank them in different areas. I have to give one rank for atmosphere, story, etc, and another for actual gameplay. RE4/RE4 remake aren't at the top for atmosphere/story, but they're in the top 5. They're good, although the island is blatant padding. RE7 is the best, then RE2, then Village.

For gameplay...original RE4 is the worst in the series, followed by RE4 remake (which improves things, but not enough). The gameplay and controls are just bad. RE4 is overloaded with QTE nonsense, and while the remake improved things it's still nowhere near the rest of the games. Every freaking thing is a QTE. QTE to sneak up behind something. QTE to follow up after almost every hit. Leon gets locked into animations that make it so he can't act.

Village has the best gameplay of the series.

Island is "padding" but RE7's boat, which is one of the worst locations, isn't?

Also, what "act" do you want to perform as Leon when he's doing a roundhouse kick?
