So, stop reading fiction.
Back to Revelations, however. Definitely not fiction. The book of Revelations in the Bible, that is.
Non-fiction is real life and real life is generally bland. That's why we play video games, because real life is bland.

Why the hell is this piece of trash worth over 100 bucks Tier.
Resident Evil Gaiden.
It's not a bad list.
Yeah I figured 7, 8 and Zero and CV are the more controversial spots on my list.
I really enjoy 7s horror feel and some of the return to form from RE6, but I'm just so bummed out by how barebones certain elements like enemy design in that game are. It feels like a prototype RE game and I think it partially is at least for the RE engine.
It's mostly that way because for some reason I prefer RE8 over RE7. My opinion on those two is pretty fluid.
I'd say as long as these lists are opinion based they are all good. I'd explain my Tiers as "Tier of personal enjoyment" and not necessarily a commentary on how good the game is.

After that, does it really matter? I mean, sure, RE4/RE4 Remake. After that...maybe RE3 Remake? Revelations is good. The video game and the Bible book.
RE1R is such quintessential RE experience. It has almost everything that is so great about the original RE games and still looks and plays pretty nice if you mod in AI upscaled backgrounds.
RE2R is basically the same except it shows how it can be done with more modern control schemes and camera.
It's not surprising these two are so highly regarded by long time RE fans.
I don't feel it's fair to compare it to Village though, just like it's unfair to compare REmake2 to REmake4 as they aim for completely different approaches. Still, like you said - it's all personal preference.
Or a magnum. Head explosions for days!
The original had that too, but with modern graphics at 4K, delicious.
