Which RE to start with?
Games are on sale and I've never played one, I want to get into the story but I also want some pretty fluid and fun gameplay. What would be the best one to start with?

Resident evil 2 remake should be a good start

Definitely 2 or 4

2 is an incredible game at the sale price. If you're going to buy it, you might as well put down a few dollars more and get 3 included. Think of it as an expansion.

1 remake

remake of 1, just prepare for tank controls. Then maybe do re0, and then just go in order, but also play the originals of 2 and 3. honestly original 3 is just better than the remake

after you've gone through them all, then maybe play original 1. its not bad, but the remake was just better than it in every conceivable way. whereas the other remakes i think the originals still have their place and you should check them out

Lots of cut content from the original, people say the remake/reimagining is shorter than the original but HowLongToBeat has them at the same length. Nemesis is no longer a stalker like Mr.X but he’s more of a scripted set piece like Mr. X in the original RE2

It’s not a bad game by any means but it is the black sheep of the Remake/Reimaginings

If you want fluid and fun then maybe it's best to start at RE2 remake and just recap RE1 since RE1 is tank and fixed camera. Some people has issue with that especially newcomer.

Oh, but they gave us the memorable "Resistence" game or whatever it was, who knows.

Took our money, gave us half a game, and tried to tell us, OH but you got this great MTX shooter nonsense no one asked for.

What a bunch of scumbags all game devs are now. What a scumbag move that was, douchebags.

Pretty fluid gameplay, hmm... Start with RE2 remake, RE3 remake is same gameplay too but shorter. Then RE4 remake. They are pretty much all a little clunky to very clunky, except the remakes, 7 and Village are fine but I prefer third person in horror games (Village have third person with Gold edition now but note it's been added after release so not perfect) . If you can go past that, Play them all, mod them all if necessary/available. Even the Revelations 1/2 ported to PC I find them very good.

I bought RE1R, RE0, RE2R and RE3R on the Steam Summer Sale and was so hooked that I also bought RE4R at full price if you are afraid of fixed camera and don't you want to try it, skip RE1R and start with RE2R. But i recommended all games i mentioned(except RE0) or at least watch RE1R on Youtube because you will miss Mansion incident and how it started.
