Infinite Ammo Cheating?
I know this may sound like a dumb question but I just went from getting a B on Standard, to getting an S+ on Professional without using any bonus weapons or perks.

Now that I’ve unlocked Ashley Armor, and Cat Ears for infinite ammo, I’m considering completing all remaining difficulties with all these professional completion benefits such as Assisted, Standard, and Hardcore. I’m basically going to be playing the story 3 times for each difficulties for S+. I’ll be using Cat Ears, Chicago Sweeper, Handcannon, and Armored Ashley to get S+ ranks on each difficulty.

I just finished getting S+ rank on hardcore using the perks, but idk if I really do deserve getting S+ since I’m cheesing it by using OP weapons, cat ears, and armored Ashley.

I know some of you may be saying something like “Since you got S+ on Professional without using any bonus weapons or perks, you might as well take a vacation and take an easy path for each difficulties.” But I would like your opinions/thoughts about this.

It's a single player game, so it doesn't really matter at the end of the day.

Did you feel like you cheated yourself out of the experience? Then you did.
Did you feel like you didn't cheat yourself out of the experience? Then you didn't.

Personally, I don't think it's too fun to play with the bonus gear, so I generally don't. I did do a victory lap with the IRL and then again with the cat ears to play with guns I hadn't put much time into using to try and get a feel for what their uses were, but haven't used either since. I don't even like to do NG+ really, I pretty much exclusively run NG Pro because it's the most fun for me. I think the options to toggle all these things on/off at will mid-run are really nice though, because, you did earn them. Even if I spend 95% of my gametime specifically not using them, unlocking them was a fun journey.

And also on that note of taking a vacation, I did the Frugalist/Silent Stranger/Minimalist challenges all on one fresh NG run, with no bonus gear ... To me, going for S+ on Pro after that WAS the vacation haha.

I believe cheating would be altering the intended design of the game to gain an advantage such as using a mod, an external cheat program, or exploiting a glitch that is not intended to be there.

If you place additional restrictions on yourself that the game doesn't require then it's for you as most people don't follow such standard. If someone says they did S+ on Professional then most people would understand that they might have used bonus stuff.

If you did it without any bonus stuff, you can post the full playthrough on YouTube because that's the only way you'll get recognition for it. Otherwise it's a just a "you" thing.

I actually did livestream it in my YouTube channel.

Don't you need to get S+ on Professional to unlock cat ears? That means you had clear Professional on NG without cat ears in the first place.

Yes and that’s what I did.

Then if you didn't cheat on that, what's it matter. No harder (official) challenges in the game anyway.

Why wouldn't you "deserve" S+ at LOWER difficulties after clearing the highest difficulty? This is such a weird question.

The bonus weapons and costumes are like the bonus equipment in FF16 that turns it into easy mode. It's cheating (or turning the difficulty down to baby mode) in a metaphorical sense sure. But no one cares so long as you don't go faulting the game for being too easy while using it.

Ironically, same thing happened with FF16. Where some people started twitter drama on how FFXVI is too easy while using the items literally meant to enable god mode. Charlie (penguin0) even had a video about mocking these people and the dishonesty they were doing. Comparing them to if you asked chat GPT how to make a post to offend people by being as misleading as possible.

When you say NG, do you mean a new game, fresh, with no weapons or weapon upgrades you got from the previous game? Starting from scratch?

Fresh new game, not NG+. So I’m starting new without carrying any upgraded weapons.

Why would it matter if you've already beaten the game at the hardest difficulty? You can replay it however you want.

Here's my two cents on the matter. Do YOU want to use the cat ears, handcannon, chicago sweeper, and armored Ashley on the lower difficulties? Do YOU think it would be fun? Do YOU think you should be challenging yourself? Do YOU think you should be able to breeze through the lower difficulties with no added stress?

I don't think using these weapons/accessories that were difficult to acquire in the first place in lower difficulties as 'cheating'. They're rewards for completing certain conditions/challenges in the game, why not use them? Even then, why should YOU care if other people may think that using these bonus weapons/accessories are considered cheating? It's a single-player game. It's not like your 'cheating' will affect someone else's enjoyment of the game. It only affects YOU and YOU alone. Just do what's fun man, do what you want to do! If you think you don't deserve using the bonus weapons/accessories on lower difficulties, then don't use them. If you want to breeze through the game, then, by all means, use them. Whether using the infinite rocket launcher on the assisted difficulty or challenging yourself by only using a pistol and finishing the main story in under 5 hours in Professional, it doesn't matter.

Play how you want to play. Go have fun man.

I haven’t beaten Resident Evil 4 yet but I remember back in the Resident Evil 5 days even with infinite ammo for magnum and rocket launcher, there was a boss fight against Jill & Wesker that was extremely difficult. This is why resident evil is so fun, you can unlock perks that makes subsequent play throughs easier
