Regenerates help?

I've come to the part with the heat scope.
But whenever I shoot their 'hearts' nothing happens. I feel like I need to shoot them like 50 times before the 'hearts' explode.
This was never an issue in the original I had.

Am I doing something wrong?

Which weapon are you shooting at them with, and how far have you upgraded it damage wise?

I'm using the LE 5, the one found in the freezer. With 'Power' upgraded to Lv. 4. (1.10)
Even just tapping (so no spray) the bullets just barely do anything. Obviously they're hitting the enemy, as they stagger. But the hearts just don't get damaged.
Even when leaving the heat scope, I can see I've been shooting in a clear hole directly into the hearts, exposing them.

You need the thermal scope to see their parasites.

Was able to one shot those parasites.

I presume also that "Heat Scope" you mean "Bio Scope" correct? The Scope needed to see the Las Plagus through the creature.

Use a weapon with greater penetration. Any rifle will get the job done. Other weapons will require you to expose the plagas directly

Use a sniper, the LE5 isn't good enough to deal with it

Considering you have the Biosensor Scope and only certain guns can use it. Are you perhaps using the LE 5 or Assault Rifle? If so those don't really have good penetration at the least I haven't seen much of it so it might take a while. M1 or the Stingray would be your best bet.

I kept the Stingray through the entire game, if you need a scoped weapon it is the best.

You don't need to be able to see the parasites to kill them, I used the magnum to get the two for one achievment, the bio scope just makes it waaaay easier. However the hitbox on them is ultra precise, and some weapons with no or low piercing capabilities really have trouble hitting them. I did some tests and any basic weapon wasn't able to do anything, a riot shotgun was eventually able to chew away enough of their skin to kill a few parasites but it took like 20 shells and didn't even get all of them, the CQBR can kill them, but it takes multiple shots as the piercing isn't strong enough to punch all the way through the skin, and the stingray, bolt rifle, and all magnums can punch all the way through the creature and any parasites. The one exception is I swear it feels like the stingray doesn't one shot iron maiden head parasites on proffesional, but it's hard to tell if I just missed every time or not.

It's generally more ammo efficient to use the scope is all. I went back to kill the two initial Regenerators after I got the bio scope and when I saw the second one he was mostly dead because I had shot him several times before hand with my Riot Shotgun, to the point one shot from my Stringray Rifle finished him off even without eliminating all his parasites.

Oh for sure. I was just pointing it out, because if you have the spare ammo, you can kill the regenaradors in the keycard section before you get the scope, they both drop gems. Probably not worth it unless you're really lucky or just really don't want to be chased by them.
