When does Leon go John Wick?

There are moments in intense fights when Leon starts using the center axis relock stance (yes I googled it) where he holds the pistol diagonally and closer to his chest.

I wonder where it triggers? Logic dictates close encounters, but I've never noticed the transition and never managed to replicate it.

im not quite sure but doesn't it happen when enemies are really close to leon's body?

In addition I believe there is a mod on nexus to trigger it more often

The animation happens when you aim while Ganados are literally in your face.

Happens almost everytime ganado tries to kiss you on the mouth. Except only to their disappointment leons pulls out that car stance and there's gun between them.

You have to be at or near contact distance. It makes sense since Leon can’t extend his arms to sight his pistol otherwise. Very impressive animation detail.
