Red 9

In the original resident evil 4 the red 9 was the best handgun due to it being the highest damaging by quite a considerable degree.

is this still the case in the remake?
just got the red 9 and have been saving money but is it worth upgrading or should i wait until the next handgun? (currently using the dlc delux handgun)

Sentinel 9 is my favourite. Red9 after that. Depends on what you enjoy the most. The satisfying Laser+crit head pops or superior dmg per shot.

I don't like the blacktail and punisher. Cant hit ♥♥♥♥ with the blacktail adn punishers gimmick is meh for me. Matilda is fun tho. The best smg in the game lol.

Looked up some guides and posts to find out that all the handguns are pretty balanced in the remake, this is good news

in this case i think i still might go for the red9 since thats the one i used in the original in most playthroughs

I got rid of pistols as soon as I got the TMP which I used like a pistol in the original RE4. In this remake the TMP is garbage and the Red9 is the best way to go simply because of how the game handles ammo.

I enjoy how the high and balanced stats the Blacktail has overall, so it feels good to use and is very versatile for every type of encounters. Its high rate of fire and the 1.5x power exclusive upgrade makes it a DPS machine, of course the highest DPS pistol is the Matilda, but it eats so much pistol ammo, so I'm not much of a fan of it.

It's not the stagger and pinpoint wonder it is in the OG. Its still okay to dump in some ammo for village gigante. But yeah after my first playthrough I never used it again. The LE 5 has some uses tho. More accurate due to scopes.. penetration once exlussive unlocked and such. Fighting regeneradors with it is fun. Not optimal but fun.

Red-9 has been my go-to gun in RE4, but this remake is the first time I decided to main the Punisher and OH BOI did I miss out in the original. That penetration is a godsend

using the sentinel in my professional no bonus weapons run I found it was good for the village and castle. It falls off at the island where It might take 5 headshots to down an enemy, on rare occasions it takes 1.

I prefer the Red 9 where damage is more consistent.

It's just as strong, but the only problem is that it's slow. Probably wouldn't want to use Red9 for speedruns anyway. It's perfectly fine for casual play.

Yep, they are pretty balanced this time round. EspeciaIIy the part where huge gap of firepower difference got toned down.

I did once in og new game professional using tmp as substitute to pistol, its really great.

So tmp is now horrendous? Guess I will try it for once because I'm masochist going for low tier

True, I've been avoiding using it and only tried it on my last playthrough just before the remake. I wasn't using it as a pistol replacement, but it makes easy work of many bosses

I had no issues running with the TMP as one of my four weapons.

I used it all the time in the original for setting up melee-attacks. For that alone it was pretty good, saved me a lot of flashbangs and ammo for the other guns.

...and before getting the LE5 I use it in the remake too, admittedly not as much tho.
