Naturally, best way to make usage of your tokens is to save, then spend them, see what you get, reload if you don't like, and try again with a different combination, and keep track of what you get as you go.
You get one extra coin for each star you get. You get stars by going over the required high score by an indicated amount. You can get maximum of 3 stars on everything but the last one which you can get 5 stars on.
To get those maximum amount of come you have to make perfect or near perfect runs. That means Hitting every single skull, Almost every target (some allow you to miss 1 target if you are fast) relatively quickly.
I perfected every single shooting range and used RNG manipulation to attempt to get best charms, but even that wasn't enough to get everything in one run, because the game will just throw duplicates at you for every coin combination.
The RNG is seeded on each playtrhough. Each coin combination has it's own separate ordered list of items that you will get in order without exception.
It doesn't matter in which order you output the coin combinations. the same combination of coins will always result in the same rewards in order if you reload a save. The way to manipulate this is to Test every coin combination (there are 4) Write up what you get and then use the coins to get the best rewards from the list.
This RNG seed is reset on each NG and NG+ run. So if you want to get all charms on multiple runs but you get a really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ seed just save the coins for another NG+ run.
For the last target in 1-A let your pistol focus first and then wait for it to appear. This game has slight delay after hitting the firing button as it accounts the shooting animation before the bullet flies out. So you have to lead the target a bit to hit it consistently.
I mean, it doesn't ruin the game or anything, but it is somewhat of a downer. Also not sure I like the switch to a pirates theme instead of the, well, Resident Evil 4 theme the shooting range had in the original. It doesn't bother me, but I just wonder ... why? (I also think it takes a little too long to get to the shooting range in the castle, weird pacing, but whatever.)
As for the "every 1000+" one, I don't think it ever gets ticked off, because it's a repeated reward; you just get the tokens.
There's a finite amount of targets though. The game doesn't physically have enough targets and time to give you more than 3 stars (3 extra coins) per mode. The only exception is 4-C which has a similar "soft cap" at 5 stars.
I know this because the jump from 2 stars to 3 stars requires almost perfectly hitting all targets relatively quickly. Some of the games allow you to miss 1 or 2 targets at most.
Getting 2 stars is easy. but getting 3 basically requires you to memorize the course.
I do agree with you about the reward system. It's garbage.
i don'ed it, whats the point in getting the skulls?? only got an achievement for the s ranks
