Typing it would be tiresome especially since it's easier to show instead. A pretty consistent strat is this one...

Are mods out of the question?

What worked for me was just shooting them when I had to, use the shotgun only to make space and try using melee attacks everytime you have a chance, but don't waste too much time trying to aim for the heads or you'll get surrounded quickly. If Luis gets attacked, you can knife kill the zombie that is grabbing him, so you can get advantage of that. In the second half of the attack you shouldn't stay always on the top floor but you should try going up and down, looking for the safest point because zombies tend to go a lot to Luis if you move around enough. Just a general tip, don't think too much about your ammunition, you'll always have time to get more of them later in the game. A lot of players complain about too few ammo in this game but you can just use the crossbow in easy fights, to not waste them, cabin fight is not a moment when you can think about not wasting them.

Took me roughly 20 attempts to get before I got it done on hardcore, and about 30ish on professional. I made sure to have a decent amount of ammo/healing leading up to it. (Which wasn't much to begin with).

All I did was kite the mobs around the house from top to bottom and take shots/parry when I got the chance, much more annoying when pig man spawns. Much easier to kite the mobs around the house in phase 2. Brute force basically. Hard AF. Have a few nades and flashbangs going into it for sure. Shotgun is your best friend for clearing packs if need be.

So when the ugly pig dude arrives that's when it's timed? Before that it's the amount of kills that trigger the ladder scene and pig dude?

This makes the cabin fight faster, not easier. Most regular mortals are looking to make the fight easier on pro.

I found running up and down the stairs to kite the enemies into an easier to manage funnel helped.

Otherwise you just gotta kill them fast so they drop the wood boards.

Shotgun and grenades can help clear space quickly.

Tbh I dont really think that it's to hard.. more fun than the .. camp on stairs and hope for the best strat, maybe because I mainly use the BAR since release.. for everything.. I already did it except that I used the shotty more because low on rifle ammo.

The speedrun strat makes sure that you dont get swarmed while wasting a lot of shotgun shells, pistol ammo and granades which will be useful for bella sisters..

The whole section is such a pain that it's worth to learn it imho. I understand that getting gud with the BAR is not easy tho.

I would say the best strat is to save shotgun ammo and grenades, but that's useless unless you're willing to restart the game. I crafted only shotgun ammo with my gunpowder for the entire Village section and I had ~30 rounds for the cabin fight on Hardcore. I did run past/skip a few enemy groups though, namely the second village fight, the ganados in the church, and the strong threat dog enemy.

When the fight starts immediately push the cabinet in front of the window and use the boards to cover the other window on the same wall. That way all the enemies will be coming at you from one direction for a bit. Use the other boards to try to cover those same windows when you can.

What it ultimately comes down to is that you have to spend the ammo. You're not gonna get through it with just the pistol and skill/luck, not on a fresh save at least. Use the rifle for headshots until you get overwhelmed, then switch to shotgun to quickly clear the mobs. Grenades are ok but won't kill unless you get a direct hit so they're mostly for crowd control. When the Brute comes just unload into it with the shotgun as fast as you can. Make sure all your guns have maxed power and capacity before going in. Make sure you can parry well but tbh it's not that great since getting grabbed from behind is more of a problem than frontal attacks.

I had a few trouble with this mostly because I decided on not to upgrade anything so I had the basic pistol, rifle from the merchant, and the shotgun from the village, and nothing else.

What worked for me was boarding up the single window near the entrance, move the cabinet to block the other window temporarily, and then raid the whole cabin for ammo and herbs.
Ganados will start entering the cabin from the single window, kill as many as you can with headshots and kicks as soon as they enter, after a while they'll destroy the cabinet and get in from both windows at once, try to survive until a ganado drops more boards, as soon as you see the boards get them and close the window near the corner, this only leaves the window near the stairs open. Outside this window there is a red barrel you can shoot to get some breathing room and slow down the flood of Ganados for a while.
Soon enough a third board will be dropped, at this point close the last window immediately.

By now the cow head ganado will enter and ♥♥♥♥ will hit the fan, it's only a matter of survival at this point, try to run away and parry as much as you can, if you have shotgun shells left save them for this moment, after a few minutes the section will end.

If you didn't use them on the plaga-bearing ganados earlier, flashbangs are always a good friend.
