Best Nvidia Driver Version?
Has anyone worked out the most stable driver for RE4 to have raytracing on without getting the D3D crash? Like others my game crashes with the latest Nvidia driver (531.41) so I was wondering if I should revert to the previous version 531.29 or an older one.

Alot of times when an important new release comes out, they will have a day 1 driver update specifically for that. I don't know if this game got that treatment. If you can check the dates on each update version, maybe you could select the one that came before the demo originally came out.

It did but the game crashes with raytracing on on the latest driver. Others have said reverting to an older driver fixes it for now but I want to know which one is most stable.

RT crashing isn't a matter of the driver. It's the game exceeding your VRAM capacity.
The game itself is bugged and crashes when VRAM flush is triggered with RT on, otherwise it does flush VRAM properly which results in stutter/low FPS until it reloads all textures.

Do you know if the demo version has raytracing and if that one crashes? That might help narrow it down.

Yeah I never had any crashes in the demo and I'm pretty sure that had raytracing too.

So my choice would be to pick the latest driver that came out before the full game's release. Otherwise you really have to get into the weeds to find out which update changed the tiny thing specifically that breaks it, which honestly would be better done on the Nvidia forums.

Again, it's the game not the drivers or the demo. Different areas have different VRAM usage. As long as you get warning in settings menu that you're in the red VRAM usage, it will eventually crash with RT on.
Only way to mitigate this is to either not use RT or turn down texture cache size until you are not in the red.

I get the crash without the number going red or yellow.

Just to clarify I'm not exceeding capacity at all.

The Nvidia forums are full of people that know all the ins and outs of every little thing about PC hardware and troubleshooting. The Steam forums are full of random people arguing about socio-political implications of how video game characters look. So my advice is to follow the money.

Will do, thanks.

In that case without specs it's impossible to help without detailed specs, if your GPU is overclocked it'd be the first thing to check.

Ryzen 7 5800x
Nvidia 3070
32gb ram

I'm not overclocking my gpu but it's the OC model "Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3070 EAGLE OC 8G GDDR6" is the exact name.
