What does solving the clock puzzle with Ashley skip?
I see people say doing the clock puzzle skips a part of the game. What does it skip?

If you solves the first clock right away you will miss few treasures and a weapon, coming back in the room with leon will have them all locked away since ashley haven't been through it.

Unless you're speedrunning, I wouldn't recommend doing this.

three treasure you can obtain that would other wise be locked. Leon would also no longer able to grab the assault rifle as a result.

Outside of the achievement for treasures in the castle it's not that big of a deal. Pretty sure the merchant will sell missed guns. So it has no negative drawback outside of missing some situations if it's your first time going through said area.

I'm still not understanding how it skip parts of the game to make a run go faster which is what I want to do

Saves you a couple of minutes because you don't need to go to the first clock which reveals the time you had to input.
This also saves some annoyances when going for the no-light challenge.

The very first clock you need to solve without looking for the code here the answer:

Assisted and Standard difficulty:
11:04

Hardcore and Professional difficulty:
7:00

Think the time for assisted and standard is 11:04.

You're not necessarily skipping the "puzzle", you have to always do the puzzle, but what people are saying is if you memorize the answer to the puzzle, you no longer have to go through the library area, get the keys, go down the elevator, and then find the sheet that tells you what the answer is and go all the way back to the clock when you can just open it as soon as you enter the area instead.

The answer never changes, and is only based on what difficulty you're playing on, which were listed above.

Never said it is. Its a saphire, emerald, and a perfume bottle which isn't a lot.

Not sure if you can repurchase the gun you missed since I only ever skipped after the initial playthrough which it turns into a gold bar. That said buying the gun is 40k assuming the price of purchase and repurchase are the same.

A huge reason for to skip the puzzle is for speed running. You'll save a good chunck of time by skipping the library. The assault rifle isn't a huge deal imo since the stingray is good enough.

Skips some treasure.

Skips like 5 minutes of nothing.

For sure. When I did my speed runs on assisted then standard I used that skip both times. First playthrough I did I did everything normally so I could see what was different from the original version.

I'll still lean on saying the merchant sells missed guns. Fairly certain that's the case but anyone can correct me if I'm wrong.
