Long load after logos play at start?
Is anyone else noticing an extremely long load time after the RE Engine splash screen?

I skip past the starting logos, and then I get a black screen for easily 2 mins before it loads the "This game has autosave etc.."

Is anyone else experiencing this?

This only started when I got near the end of the game on my first playthrough, then got worse as I continued that file through another full playthrough.

My rig should not be seeing this kind of load time at all with my hardware.

Specs:
Ryzen 7 2700 8-core @ 4.1GHz
32GB RAM
RTX 3080 10GB
Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB

*Update*
During this long load time, I opened HWMonitor and watched my SSD, it remained at 0.0% utilisation for the duration of the load/freeze.

*Update 2*
Apparently this may have to do with having many save files, as the game attempts to scan each individual file before loading the main menu, and takes a few seconds for each save file.
I filled all my save slots (from save scumming) so it may be that.
I will test and see if any change is noticed.

*Post-test update*
I deleted all additional save files except the top 3, and my load time drastically reduced from over 2 mins to 5 seconds.

I seem to have confirmed it is certainly the amount of save files you have that reduces start-up load times.
This coupled with the fact that you cannot delete files in-game (had to go to specific folder on my C drive to delete the save slot data) and that you cannot permanently delete them if you keep Steam Cloud active (the cloud sync will just redownload your deleted save files all over) makes this a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ hassle to deal with.

This is legitimately the only issue I've encountered with this game, and it's not exactly a small one, unfortunately.

Others have reported the same issue. Supposedly the more save files you make, the longer it gets. I have around 15 separate save files and it takes like 1 full minute to load the title screen after the RE Engine splash.

I have the same issue: an extremely long load time after the RE Engine splash screen

Have had this issue since launch...no idea what causes it but doubtful it has anything to do with save files as this has been happening since day 1.

No doubts about it. When I deleted all my excess files, the game loaded the title screen near instantly, so...

Unfortunately when I re-enabled Cloud saving it redownloaded the deleted saves and went back to a long load.

Yeah, I did the same. CAPCOM really needs to allow us to delete save files in-game.
No clue why it wasn't a default inclusion to begin with.

I thought it would be this issue... but a dumb question: how do I delete the files?
I was starting to blame my mods lol

Turn off cloud saving. Delete the extra ones you don't want. Launch the game and make a new save. Re-enable cloud saving and chose to upload yours instead of downloading the cloud back ups.
