Im having trouble getting to the bonus round while also hitting all the skull coins and hitting all the targets is there anything i can do?

its like i wait for the aiming reticle to shrink down and i look dead at the skull on the target and it still doesnt hit like WHY

Sometimes the shots will hit to the bottom left of what would be the middle of the reticle, so shoot at the targets with that in mind. Capcom was on meth getting rid of the laser.
