Clarifying how the storage box works?

Can anyone explain how the storage box at typewriters works?

I know that to get an S+ rank, you need to start a fresh game, but is there anything to stop me from going to the first storage box and pulling out a fully-upgraded set of weapons from a different save file with five NG+ playthroughs?

Does the box work across save files or only your first one? Then how do deluxe edition DLC weapons work?

You can only get S+ on NEW GAME. which means there wont be anything but deluxe and bonus weapons in the storage.

S+ is locked in ng+. Only dlc and bonus weapons are shared between saves.

I believe you'll always have them in your storage box, but they'll be in their base forms on a fresh playthrough (you will need to upgrade them again).
