If you want to go for Professional S+ run, dont use Handcannon!!!!
The problem of Handcannon, yes its powerful, yes its can explode enemies body part, but only thing is - if you are able to hit them.
The reticle so huge that you can hit anywhere, which means you only able to use it super close distance, which is huge disadvantage because enemies in Professional move so fast and so rentless, if you miss one shot you might get close by an enemy and get grab.
Hell, this Handcannon cant even penetrate shield!
Which means you should put ticket on Chicago Typewriter, and put Handcannon on backup.
I'm so regret that i put the ticket on Handcannon on Chapter 7, now i have to re-run.

You can use the hand cannon the issue is you put all your "eggs in 1 basket" it seems. If you thought using just the hand cannon was going to carry you through to an S+ I don't know how on earth you came to that conclusion due to its slow fire-rate and locking you into the recoil animation.

Using the handcannon with infinite ammo with pistol riffles and shotguns should have been an easy win for you. Just pump its damage and thats it. Use it for bosses and taking care of tough enemies.

I saw people said it sucks, so I just want to try it out, at first its quite ok, but later on it just not perform well, let say the Right Hand boss, after his hp go down he still start standing and keep go up and down to avoid your headshot, which means he can able to hit you if you miss your Handcannon, which for Chicago it wont be problem, you just move along with his head and he get stunned the entire time.

Sounds like a skill issue.

I literally did Professional S+ with infinite Handcannon with zero problems.

Same here, with over 30 minutes to spare despite doing a bunch of ♥♥♥♥ I really didn't need to do and without using any Rocket Launchers.

Saved at Castle 7, before making any decisions: Chicago Sweeper felt way too spammy, brainless, and inaccurate during my Hardcore S+ run so I went the Handcannon route and I'm glad I did; dropping piggies and chainsaw wielders in a couple of hits is too satisfying, also penetrates through targets, I balled a scoped Sentinel to take out eventual archers/bazooka bois with, you don't even need it against the wrench man except to find out which has one it, Handcannon decimates those fatties with parasites inside them too (Biosensor Scope ones), the Sweeper does not.

It really isn't, since they're both fairly equally inaccurate but I personally think Handcannon is superior in every way and thus the easier way of doing it, but I feel you though OP you should have saved right at chapter 7 just in case, figured I'd do that just in case I'd change my mind but I would totally stick to the Handcannon save if I were you, the only real downside is you can't upgrade it before Chapter 7 (or you can, but magnum ammo is very scarce) which you can with the Chicago Sweeper, so this makes the Village/Lake segments harder, but you are done with that. Prioritize atleast 4 fire rate before 5 on damage and then when fully upgraded you can pretty much clear the entire zones past Chapter 13 and still make it on time with ease since you will decimate.

You should keep a scoped Sniper when you REALLY need to be accurate (Puzzle Targets, Archers, Bazooka / Dynamite throwers etc, also for the Wrench), this is something you should probably do even if you go the Chicago route.

back in the old days we used to criticize games for being unfair but now games that are unfair get defended instead.

capcom knows exactly what they are doing because they want to sell unlock dlc. you have to get an S+ in professional to get the cat ears and the cat ears can be used to get S+ in professional. its intentional just like the infinite ammo box in resident evil 2 remake where you couldnt get S+ with infinite weapons but the exception was the infinite ammo box because it wasnt a weapon and gave all weapons infinite ammo. They do this crap to make money off of completionists that cant beat the difficulty and theres alot of them.

It's inaccurate yes, but still amazingly great to use and make it so much easier as long as you keep a rifle of some sort for when you need absolute precision. Aiming for center mass makes it hit super often as well

handcannon sucks here unless you use the mod that restores it to OP status...it's mean to be the last resort to eliminate all traces of life.

Nah its fine as it is without the mod. It make it so each boss fight lasts only a few seconds max. I like it over the sweeper since it has stopping power to stagger enemies in one shot.

I think he means "mod" as in the unlimited ammo you upgrade via the Exclusive Upgrade Tickets you buy for Spinels in Chapter 7, but yes; in a S+ proff. run that unlimited ammo upgrade obviously goes on the Handcannon (or Sweeper)

No I mean the nexus mod that restores the damage to 99 as per the original handcannon
Gamecrazy009 Apr 2, 2023 @ 9:09pm
The Tommy Gun is just as inaccurate if not more though.

Might be annoying, but anything the Handcannon does hit will stay down.

Also just bring a Stingray with you, use it for long range targets if needed, ez.

Oh, well nearly everything goes down in a couple of hits either way, so if it's something that bad boy lacks it certainly isn't damage; perhaps fire rate and/or smaller/faster reticle if you are going to restort to cheating lol, even Verdugo is killable after like one freeze already, I did Hardcore S+ with the Sweeper but timed and did way better overall in Professional S+ with the Handcannon, because you can get rid of the big MUERTEEEE wizards so much quicker, also kill the Knights in the Armory segment by shooting head before tentacle even comes out and if it does one hit will do, also for double chainsaw duo with Luis and just piggies in general just die so fast.

I only use the handcannon for pointblank shots, like when a boss falls over and exposes their weak point to me, I get up close with the handcannon and blast them.
