As of now it seems like everyone is just eyeballing and claiming theirs is the best options.
DPS
=
Pistol : Matilda
Shotgun : Striker
Rifle : CQBR
Smg : TMP
Other category are personal preference.
Economy
=
Pistol : Red9 / Punisher
Shotgun : Riotgun
Rifle : SR M1903
Smg : LE5
I don't care I want the most expensive option
=
Pistol : Blacktail
Shotgun : Striker
Rifle : CQBR
Smg : LE5
riotgun is hands down the best shotgun to just unload into a single target and has just enough spread to come in clutch up close against several targets.
semi auto rifle just feels better to use over bolt
mags its either one as your not gonna use it much anyway.
second smg is almost perfect if it had pierce
best throwing weapon is the egg I can eat it and insult my enemies with it.
Pistols: Sentinel Nine - a Mary Sue of pistols, crit chance with exclusive upgrade, large clip, high fire rate, can be equipped with laser sight, its only drawback is it being Deluxe weapon, so go with starter pistol if you don't have it.
Shotguns: Riot Gun - based on my experience with classic games, I always viewed shotguns in RE as a weapon against tougher enemies/bosses rather than weapons against groups of trash mobs, that's what pistols and grenades are. And Riot Gun sports both high damage and good accuracy.
Rifles: Bolt-action - rifle ammo is scarce and competes with grenades and smgs for L resources, so I might as well make the most of it.
Smgs: none. They are not resource efficient in general. TMP is weak, spread and recoil is all over the place, with the only way to tame it is to throw spinels at it. LE5 is better but comes online way too late to be relevant.
Magnums: none. Broken butterly suffers from crappy aiming, and by the time I have access to Killer7 I already maxed out my pistol, shotgun and rifle and don't really need anything else.
2) After Cat Ears
Pistols: Matilda. This machine pistol slaps.
Shotguns: why would you use a shotgun if you have infinite ammo?
Rifles: CQBR best gun in the game, combining smgs' clip size and rate of fire with rifle's damage.
Smgs: none, because CQBR exists and is a straight upgrade. LE5 could be good but its reload is way too slow even with upgrades.
Magnums: see Shotguns.
Blacktail is more compact and has higher RoF than most HG's
Punisher just for the pierce if you can't be arsed to use a shotgun against shielded zealots.
Riot Shotgun - far tighter spread = more pellets to hit main target.
Stingray - more reliable than bolt in tight situations, and more ammo efficient compared to the CQBR)
Killer7 - Pinpoint accuracy (just your gun to use in an "oh ♥♥♥♥" moment, and better for weakpoints, due to other magnums having crosshair bloom.)
TMP - I don't use SMG's that often, I only ran with one to serve as stagger fodder when I have to run past a blob of enemies when Ashley's also around.
Bolt Action and CQBR are tied imo. CQBR is just a completely better version of the Stingray. Does more damage and you can also go full auto with it to delete tougher enemies and bosses.
Skull Shaker is the best shotgun because its cool as ♥♥♥♥
TMP is still the best smg if you fully upgrade it
Killer7 would be better if you could get it when it actually mattered, the laser sight would make it a lot easier to use on Salazar and some castle enemies. Butterfly still the goat though
