Is verdugo/u3 the bodyguards of salazar?

Verdugo is the scientist that created the bug enemies. Like the spiders that infuse with the Ganado. He also experimented on himself. You can find his notes scattered throughout the castle. He had a real Spanish name which I forgot.

I forget if both are called Verdugo or just the one you fight is just Verdugo, but U3 is another creature entirely in the original game. The second body guard seemingly disappears in the game, possibly to become a new fight if they are doing an expanded Ada campaign later on.
