S+ Professional on a fresh save

Anyone here managed it? How did it go?

I just beat hardcore and I'm considering attempting this. I don't have any useful unlockables except for the primal knife.

It's stupid and brutal and not fun but I'm half way there on professional. The increased enemy aggression means even if you're careful about not wasting ammo and you're careful about avoiding fights you don't need to fight, you'll still have like 5 enemies appear behind you seemingly from nowhere.

I'm using videos from speedrunners as guides to do all of the puzzles and movement as fast as possible but that doesn't help you actually do the combat correctly. And not being able to kill many enemies limits your money quite a bit. I'm not sure if this is true but it also seems like higher difficulty means more enemies "revive" than usual too, which means using more knives to finish them off.

I'm trying right now with a new game(not plus) but my first save file for the new run shows over 10 hours of gameplay even though I've barely left the first chapter. Is this somekind of bug, or do savefiles only show overall gameplay time across all runs?

I think I'm going to attempt it. I'd rather unlock everything straight away instead of having to do multiple playthroughs. Then I can have fun once everything is unlocked.

I believe the time keeps ticking even if you reload a save. You need to quit out and load from the main menu if you are going to reload from a save.

The time on the save/load screen is your local time, not game time. You can see game time by pausing the game (escape on keyboard by default) and looking at the bottom.

Yes my first attempt I made it an hour without dying and didn't save. When I died, it started me back at the cabin but my playtime still said an hour.

If you die, you have to quit and reload or you ruin your timer.

Completely fresh is doable, but you need some knowledge and planning or you'll have a massive headache, and a lot of save reloads.

Any of those minigame sections where you have a different HP bar like, Del Lago boat (3 hits max), Minecart (I assume 3 hits), and the Jetski section (2 hits max if you ram something hard enough), has a very small margin for error.

but compared to few days back, you can now skip various sections with just a scoped gun. Like the first Garrador, the Wrecking ball section, and any section that has a locked door that you can open from the other side. Can't be performed on a controller tho,

Totally doable, is it fun? No it sucks ass if you don't like speedrunning.

Any bonus weapon like the Chicago Typewriter and the Handcannon (both have infinite ammo if you purchase the Exclusive ammo), Chicken hat (40% dmg reduction ish), and the Ashley knight (Invulnerability) will make the run much less infuriating.

All good. I was very confused on why the game was saying I was starting chapter 8 at 46 minutes. So you're not alone.

The way I did was, 1 playthrough normal to get the map bearing, 1 playthrough on hardcore in less than 10 hours to unlock Ashley's armour (invulnerability) and then attempt the professional, using handgun/bolter and shotgun for mobs, rifle/smg and magnum for bosses + grenades. Having 2 or more knives also helps, parry is a godsend.

I did it already. Made sure to get the Armor for Ashley first, the Chicken head accessory, and the Chicago Sweeper. Saved up 30 spinals by Chapter 7, and got the infinite ammo. Game was a cakewalk after that.

Cat ears are awesome.

I know you can use these but I have none of them so was wondering how bad it would be without them! Only one way to find out! Wish me luck bois!

Im trying it now and its quite a challenge. My first roadblock was at the cabin fight but after an hour of trial and error I got past it. Then I died few times on catapult section. Rn Im stuck at the room where the first red cult member appears. I personally find it fun. I also didnt do any practice aside from my first playthrough and didnt use any unlocks.

They should've made S+ rank impossible with unlocks, too easy that way. I'm going for professional S+ with only base weapons/ no armor ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for Ashley etc
