Is the assault rifle worth it?
I don't like how it uses my rifle ammo as I need that for my sniper rifle. I sold my TMP just to get that rifle but changed my mind and got the TMP back. Is it worth having? also after I beat the game is NG+ in this game? would be nice to have all my old weapons in a new save file.

I switched to it for a few chapters, but overall I felt like it didn't serve a good purpose. The rifles purpose is range and headshot popping at that range, but with its lower damage and how easy it is to spam rounds, I feel like the Stingray is far more useful due to the higher damage, while still being semi-auto for quicker shots.

With Cat Ears? Yup, best weapon in the game.

Without Cat Ears? Don't bother, it's just not sustainable and not resource-friendly.

I used my upgrade ticket on the assault rifle, it basically melts everything with a few rounds, ended up using it kinda like another magnum in tight situations. Long range scope still works on it too.

like Harris said, seems like a gun meant to use infinite ammo on. When I found it I used the rounds in it and never reloaded and then sold it lol.

The only utility I can see for it is to put the infared scope and use it to quickly tap all of the weak spots on a regenerator. But I also feel like you can do the exact same thing with the Stingray. So it seems like it fills a niche that doesn't exist.

Oh so it's something to do with infinite ammo. How do I get the infinite ammo item?

You can use it at any range is the advantage imo. I whip mine out and can wipe 3 enemies that are right on my ass then take out two that are shooting me all within a few seconds. Definitely need to use it sparingly though.

Nope, not worth it at all. Just use the Stingray.
Funpire Mar 30, 2023 @ 11:40am
It's not worth using as a rifle. As an infinite ammo range toy? Sure, but it's still not worth it because it's an FPS weapon, not a TPS weapon. If you are going to rock full auto, give us TPS view by default or let it actually serve as a rifle and make it combat accurate out to 600 yards with a semi auto selector so we can have 30 rounds of headshot.

Useless against regenerators, doenst have enough penetration causing you to waste lots of rifle ammo just to take one down. I'd stick with the stingray.

I need to S rank to unlock stuff? pfffffffff. I'm just gonna find a way to cheat them in. I'm not wasting my time doing that! the OG just let you unlock stuff so easily..

I mean, it is what it is. I know you could just do Mercenaries and have the Handcannon in the original, but we got no Mercenaries this time round...

On the bright side it would make no sense for Mercenaries to come with no unlockables when they arrive, which means we're likely to get some new stuff for the main game, which is always cool.

When I played the OG game recently I was so pissed that you didn't unlock the hardest difficulty until you beat the game on the one before that. And in addition to that, none of the unlocks you got from beating the game carried over to different difficulties. Meaning my entire 1st playthrough on the easiest setting was a total waste.

This game is more strict with unlocks than RE8 or the other recent remakes, but that's because it was stupid easy to unlock things in those games. You could unlock infinite ammo for individual guns before beating your first playthrough of RE8. So in comparison I think this is a fine middle ground.
