It's the most logic things that should come to mind.
It become impossible when you can't have a famous actor and you have to relay on impersonificator, like Scarface, or when the original actor it's dead, but whenever it's possible i really don't see the problem, the first choice should be a related racial actor.
This dude has been following me around this forum screaming "RACIST! REPORTED!" since then lol
(Though this is just silly. If you have a character of a certain background, hiring a voice actor from that background is a pretty good way to have the character sound authentic, especially when dialects etc. come into play.)
I'm sorry you are not happy with the voice actress they chose to perform as Ada here, but you should focus your complaints on her actual performance then, not her race or ethnicity as if that had anything to do with it. I mean, it sure seems like it does, just not on their part. Even if you assume someone actually gave a damn about whatever weird form of political correctness dictated they let an Asian woman lend Ada her voice, it's so silly to think their only choices were "hire this horrible actress that cannot do it right, but what can we do, the wokeness demands her" and "let some non-Asian miracle voice actress deliver the perfect performance and show everyone what a rotten bunch of unwoke monsters we are".
It's also not like they hire some woman as a voice actress and are then somehow at her mercy as she storms into the recording room, utters her lines with her completely unsuitable voice and insufficient skills while the people at Capcom can only stare in horror as they are forced at gunpoint to copy and paste those recordings into the game and release it.
Love or hate her voice acting for Ada, but the idea that it is not at least very close to what the directors and other relevant creatives behind the game envisioned and decided on how Ada should sound like is ridiculous. Yes, circumstances other than "top voice of our choice" may very well have played a role in Ada's voice actress' hiring, like availability or union memberships etc., but if the deciding factor really was "we need Ada to be played by an Asian woman", then there was no reason to choose one that couldn't do it well.
So what does that mean, then? The voice actress they chose performed her role just as the people making this game wanted her to and that they were happy with the results. I mean, this is such a prestige project for Capcom that the wild fever dream they somehow would let some Asian woman ruin part of it with a poor performance just because she is Asian cannot be described as anything but borderline asinine.
Furthermore, the world of videogames is teeming with bad voice acting performances. So many white men and women doing horrible jobs performing as white men and women over the centuries ... and yet, surprise, surprise, zero complaining about how they were only hired for the job because of some nebulous only people of ethnicity X may act as people of ethnicity X agenda to be found. But as soon as an Asian woman allegedly performs poorly it's "only hired for her ethnicity instead of actual talent".
Like when some cop has to tell the parents of a murderer that ther child did infact murder someone. Clearly, ther perfect child couldn't have done that.
I could also mention I have dated 3 black guys but that's up to you to see if that could happen or not as well.
I'm sorry, did that come back on you like every other of your posts tend too?
Fair enough.
I mean, it is not like i never watched anime. I know all about it and i hate it.
