No more free ammo from merchant when upgrading magazine capacity.
was this change really necessary? seems less fun since players are inclined to used hand guns 90% of the time due to suitcase effect more handgun ammo drops.

Refilling your weapon after upgrading ammo capacity never made sense. I'm glad they changed it.

I mean, him selling no ammo didnt make much sense either tbh.

Anyway, the main methods of getting ammo is from drops or crafting them this time around.

But the merchant loves leon, doing his best customer a real solid. On a serious note, the freaking merchant don't make sense, so not much ground for your argument there.

Can't argue with that :cuphead:

I like to believe the second time you see him where he's surrounded by Ganado trophies like an El Gigante skull implies he hunts them for sport and just helping Leon while making some profit. I don't know why they changed his blue flame to purple though, it would have connected him to a later lore point and made sense plagas can't touch him.

I am not going to talk about refill from upgrading capacity.

Regarding the briefcase
If you don't have the preorder gold/classic briefcase, you best stick to handgun briefcase.
The resource L briefcase imo is okay if you craft bolts and flashbang, these two crafting alone will chew through resource L fast enough than the briefcase can throw at you like no tomorrow which will clog the space fast. Maybe if you run smg, you will need resource L briefcase.
The red herb briefcase is a bit pointless due to the 1hp guts system, even in Pro difficulty the system still exist. You can heal from danger with single green herb, and expect to not die in next hit from common enemies.
In og re4, this 1hp guts system is removed in Pro. You can have 6 bar hp at fine status but got killed in 1 hit by a zealot morning star attack dealing 7 bar damage.

i busted all my load on tmp, shotgun and rifle right before the house defense with luis. only to find out they changed this free ammo on mag upgrade mechanic.

a mechanic they didn't change tho was the auto adjusting difficulty, i game overed about three times, 3 out of five enemies resurrected either with bent neck or tentacle head.
on the 4th try, only one out of five resurrected. it got me through, but damn, my gamer pride as an re4 veteran was hurt a bit.

yep, it rains handgun ammo with the handgun briefcase. pretty much never need to craft handgun ammo.

I thought it was RNG. You probably just got lucky.

cool, i read somewhere that the merchant was infected at one point cause his eyes became yellow, and then blue again towards the end in the old re4. although if there really was some real in game lore, i think the devs would have spilled by now, i think its just a fun character.

it wasn't rng in the old game, enemies really die faster in the older game if the player keeps dying, its like a temporary easy mode if the player isn't doing too well (and vice versa), but the game doesn't tell you. its actually well documented. less spawns, less bullets to kill enemies, and less tentacle heads. not sure if this existed in professional difficulty.

you might be right, in the remake it could be rng, but i suspect it isn't. its not really a bad thing, in fact it could bring a lot more positive than negative for the general player experience. old re4 was such a success after all.

I've just finished the house defence and I can say with some certainty that, at least on hardcore, the difficulty doesn't seem to adjust with deaths.

The only reason I survived the eighth attempt (I had stupidly done the dog request beforehand and was basically on zero ammo from the start) was because I managed to catch SEVEN tentacle heads/broken neck folks with the knife whilst they were writhing on the floor in the first wave before the ladders start.

I was very, very happy when I finally finished it because I was starting to lose hope.

Was fun to have it be actually difficult though, as I remember it being a bit of a cakewalk in the original.

Free refill? Not in this economy, stranger.

For me personally that adds to the idea of what traditional survival horror is, keeping track of your supplies and trying to make sure you aren't using it all up so you can make it through. I'm happy they added that into the game as something you have to worry about. I'm sorry you don't agree.

Capcom could have added an option to have that not be a thing in the options menu I suppose, and I'm sure someone can make a mod to alter that one aspect to add it back in.
As it is right now though did it catch me by surprise? Yes. Am I upset by it as a traditional survival horror fan and a little less of a B action movie cheese fan? No.
