Handgun and knife only run impossible due to Regenerador wrench part?

So there's a part later one where you have to find a wrench inside one of the Regeneradors in the lab area. But in order to 1. identify the right one and 2. kill the parasites to get the wrench, I have to use a rifle with the heat scope. Doesn't this ruin the "handgun and knife only" achievment? Can you kill the Regenerador only using handguns? Can I even simply equip my rifle to check which one is the correct one?

You can kill the regenerator with only a knife. You can use the scope to check which one is right, but you can't fire the gun.

Pretty sure you can check with biometric sensor, as long as you are not shooting the rifle.

Same goes to eggs. You can possess any amount of eggs but throwing them will invalidate the challenge no matter what, including side quest for Salazar painting.

the punisher pistol has piercing damage like the rifle so i think it will be easier to kill the parasites with that
