Not so much for the regen and iron maiden. Good thing you only need to deafeat one single regenerador. Bridge iron maiden can be skipped with a glitch and the regen in the bags can be avoided.
So only one fight for the wrench where the LE5 is enough.
I'm saving my magnum ammo for my NG+ Pro run S rank attempt. I guess I should invest in the stingray then, if i can, once I start NG+? Or are plaga-heads and pig-heads gonna need more than 1 stingray shot on Pro?
I've just started an NG+3 Pro Run today and can affirm that the Stingray performs almost the same as it does on Hardcore i.e. heavy enemies (Brutes) will take around 3-5 headshots to put down and Plaga-heads will typically take one well-placed shot to kill. Granted, this is with a maxed out Stingray with it's exclusive upgrade active.
I'll consider using the Bolt-Action on another run but as it stands I see both guns having different use-cases; I see the M1903 as a strong burst-DPS weapon I'd reserve for bosses or strong enemies that don't move erratically/aggressively so as to throw off your shot. Stingray, on the other hand, can do that and easily dispatch multiple enemies/deal damage quickly because of it's semi-automatic operation. Both are solid options but I find the Stingray is best for me.
Semi automatic is when you want to jam like the rest
Stingray is definitely better for taking them out though because of how accurate you have to be and if you miss at all, it's better to be able to take another shot immediately than have to wait for a bit, and damage doesn't really matter for them anyway.
Also i don't think the Iron Maiden one is bugged, i've never had it pop on the first hit, and i don't think it's damage based, just based on how many times you hit it.
Though i'm not about to do thorough testing to prove that either, though, so if i'm wrong so be it. I'll leave it to people more patient than me to figure that out.
I disagree there.
The original bolt action was also even stronger than it is here.
It still fills the same role here as it did in the original.
- A big target killer -
The semi auto is by no means bad but it will waste a lot of ammo doing what the rifle can do. The difference was never small, if you are using it for crowd crowd or to rapidly dispatch regens yeah it's better but if you are using it to kill chainsaws, el gigante, garradors, or jj then the bolt action will save more ammo by far.
Hell, in the remake on professional salazar only took 10 bolt action rifle shots allowing me to save the rare as hell and expensive to craft magnum rounds for saddler and verdugo.
If 4.9x3 firepower ain't one head shot regular enemies, let's say on island, wonder how much health they have.
also if you tap your mouse/fire key it only shoots once. you do NOT have to burst or full auto fire it. it is also pinpoint accurate. whenever i have aimed at something with the ACOG, it has hit what i've aimed at.
it also made the saddler fight stupid easy because i put 3 bullets in quick succession into his legs to knock him down. ammo was never an issue because i used the black attache case so large resources dropped frequently.
and since i wasn't having ammo issues, i cared more about having a semi/full auto rifle for regeneradors than the ammo efficiency of the bolt action.
